  • Patent number: 10468798
Abstract: A card edge connector with an improved manner of creating a preload force on conductive elements held by a housing. The housing may include a member and an opening at a mating end. Each conductive element may have a contact portion curving inwardly relative to the opening and a tip extending from the contact portion towards the mating end. Each contact portion may form an electrical connection with an edge pad of a card to be inserted into the opening. The conductive elements may be configured to have a rest state in order to create a proper force to be exerted on the edge pads. The member may preload the conductive elements by contacting the conductive elements from a location farther from the mating end than the contact portion, which may avoid damage upon insertion of a card into the connector without the need for long tips of the conductive elements. As a result, the connector may operate at high frequencies.

  • Patent number: 10461467
Abstract: A card edge connector with latching that enables a compact connector. The connector includes a latch, centrally located along the connector. The latch may be aligned with an alignment rib of the connector housing, reducing the space required for the latch. In some embodiments, portions of the latch may be bifurcated so that the latch may straddle the rib. In this way, space for a latch in a circuit assembly using the connector may be less than in conventional connector with latches on each end.

  • Publication number: 20190319395
Abstract: An input/output connector system with a cable assembly that routes signals over a circuit board to which a receptacle connector is attached. A cage housing the receptacle has a channel with an opening at one end for mounting in a panel opening. The cage has an opening in a top surface through which a plug may be inserted into the channel to mate with the receptacle. The cage may be formed with one or more keys that engage channels on the plug to constrain motion of a plug inserted through the top surface to a direction perpendicular with the circuit board until the plug is inserted sufficiently into the cage that it can slide towards the receptacle without damaging the plug or receptacle. The plug may have one or more latch components on the sides, which engage with corresponding latch components on the cage when the plug is slid into engagement with the receptacle connector.

  • Publication number: 20190288436
Abstract: In various embodiments, compact connector designs may be provided that have reduced board pitch (e.g., 1.80 mm, 1.50 mm, 1.27 mm, etc.), but are still capable of accommodating large electrical conductors (e.g., 1.4 mm, 1.1 mm, 0.9 mm, etc.). In this manner, PCB footprint may be reduced (e.g., by 50% when a staggered connector configuration is used), while adequate current carrying capacity may be maintained (e.g., 2 A, 3 A, 4 A, etc.). Additionally, or alternatively, one or more other advantages may be achieved, such as ruggedness (e.g., vibration endurance), error proofing, configuration flexibility, ease of manufacturing, ease of assembly, and/or lowered costs.
