    Abstract: An end coupling for a shaft of a rock bolt comprises a body having a lead portion with a leading end, and a tail portion with a trailing end. The tail portion is arranged to be connected to a drive to impart rotation to the coupling about its axis. The body defines a passage extending between the leading and trailing ends and a first portion of the passage extends from the leading end and has a first diameter. A second portion of the passage is disposed adjacent the first portion and has a second diameter that is larger than said first diameter. A first thread extends along at least part of the first portion of the passage and is arranged to engage an external thread on the rock bolt shaft. A rock bolt assembly incorporating the end coupling is also disclosed.

    Abstract: Electrical connectors capable of being mounted on circuit substrates by BGA techniques are disclosed. Also disclosed is a method for manufacturing such connectors. There is at least one recess on the exterior side of the connector elements. A conductive contact extends from adjacent the interior side of the into the recess on the exterior side of the housing. A controlled volume of solder paste is introduced into the recess. A fusible conductive element, in the form of solder balls is positioned in the recess. The connector is subjected to a reflow process to fuse the solder ball to the portion of the contact extending into said recess. Contacts are secured in the insulative housing of the connector by deformable sections that minimize stress imposed on the housing, thereby reducing warpage. Solder resist areas are formed on central portions of the contacts to promote uniformity of solder volume.

Subsequently, rotation in the opposite direction actuates a mechanical anchoring arrangement to anchor rock bolt.

The contacts may be signal contacts or ground contacts. When the connectors are mated, a ground may be established between the connectors by the mating of the ground contacts from the respective connectors. The ground contacts in the first connector may be shaped to bridge together an array of ground contacts in the second connector when the connectors are mated. Such bridging tends to establish a continuous ground along the array of ground contacts, creating a more robust ground than in an otherwise identical connector.
