Abstract: An apparatus for compressing or squeezing a stack of folded, essentially flat products, especially printed products, comprising a stack receiver compartment closed at its lowr end by a support element and a counter pressure device arranged above the support element. The support element and the counter pressure device are movable relative to one another, in order to press together the stack arranged between the counter pressure device and the support element. The counter pressure device comprises at least one pressing element pivotable about an essentially horizontal pivot axis. The pressing element spans over the stack receiver compartment in the direction of the pivot axis. This pressing element can be rocked upwardly by a product stack, out of a lower pivotal position inclined in the direction of the support element, against the action of at least one pressure element acting upon the pressing element.
Abstract: An apparatus for counting printed products arriving at a conveyor path or track in an imbricated product stream, comprising a feeler bearing under the action of a contact force upon the product stream and secured against entrainment in the conveying direction of the product stream; this feeler cooperating with an electrical signal transmitter. The feeler comprises an overhang arm of a sound pick-up like transducer cell mounted in a support. The support possesses a support element which serves to bear upon the imbricated product stream. The free end of the overhang arm is structured such that it scans or feels the surface of the imbricated product stream at the region of bearing contact of the support element. The method of operating such apparatus for counting folded printed products is manifested by the features that the overhang arm of the transducer cell is directed to that side of the imbricated product stream at which there is accessible the edges of the printed products located opposite the fold.
Abstract: An apparatus for destacking a stack of flexible flat structures, especially unfolded or folded sheets or printed products, comprising a stack support composed of revolving driven rolls and contact rails disposed above the stack support for defining a stack support surface. A separation device is arranged below the stack support and revolvingly driven in cycle or rhythm with the arriving rolls in order to continuously downwardly remove an edge of the momentarily lowermost flat structure between the arriving rolls. A conveyor device engages below the stack support for the removal of the printed products which have arrived beneath the stack support. The stack support surface is arranged to be at an inclination or directed obliquely at one of its corners towards the direction of movement of the rolls.
Abstract: An apparatus for evening a printed stream of printed products comprising a number of revolving entrainment members which are in a drag connection with one another. At the region of their conveying-active path the entrainment members are guided and at the start of this path driven by a thrust drive and at the end thereof driven by a traction drive. The entrainment members engage the printed products and the thrust and traction drives cause a change in the spacing of the entrainment members and, consequently, in the spacing of the products.
Abstract: An apparatus for infeeding printed products or the like to a stacker, comprising an endless revolving conveyor having an outfeed portion which is elevationally adjustable and automatically accommodatable to the height of the formed stack. The outfeed portion is constituted by a loop of an essentially vertically traveling run of the conveyor, the loop is deflected out of the conveyor by means of guides which are arranged at a frame guided along the aforementioned run and displaceable by means of a lift drive. The lift drive can be switched-on and switched-off as a function of the response of a feeler provided at the frame and scanning the height of the stack.
Abstract: An apparatus for processing printed products wherein the product copies are introduced at an infeed location into individual compartments of a revolving cell wheel, processed during the time they are present in the compartments and removed from the compartments at a removal location. The infeed location and removal location are arranged in offset relationship in the direction of the lengthwise axis of the cell wheel. Each compartment has arranged therein, in an axial direction, entrainment means movable between a work stroke and a return stroke, the entrainment means of each compartment being operatively coupled with one another. The entrainment means are driven by a drive embodying a common stationarily arranged guide track describing a closed curve and follower elements rotating with the cell wheel.

Abstract: An apparatus for cutting continuously arriving flat structures, especially printed products, wherein there is provided a revolving driven rim of similar cutter tools which can be each actuated via entrainably moving follower elements through the agency of a common control cam. Operatively associated with each of the cutter tools are feed means for the infeed and removal of a flat structure.
Abstract: An apparatus for transferring successively arriving piece goods, especially printed products, from a first individual conveyor to a second individual conveyor, each of the individual conveyors being provided with tandemly arranged, controlled grippers each of which serve to grip one of the piece goods. Between both of the individual conveyors there is arranged a third revolving individual conveyor equipped with controlled entrainment members. Each of the entrainment members serving to seize or engage one of the piece goods. The conveying-active run of the third individual conveyor can be introduced at its end regions into the conveying paths of the first and second individual conveyors. A drive which is controlled by the first and/or the second individual conveyor is provided for the third individual conveyor.
Abstract: An apparatus for stacking printed products or the like continuously arriving from a conveyor and moving along a conveying path of travel, especially printed products arriving in an imbricated product formation, wherein there are provided a plurality of clamping elements elastically pre-biased towards one another. The clamping elements are displaceably guided through the operable zone of a driven spreader mechanism and due to the action thereof temporarily brought out of their mutual clamping position. The path of movement of the clamping elements at the region of the spreader mechanism penetrates or passes through the path of travel for the incoming or arriving printed products defined by the conveyor.
Abstract: An apparatus for folding printed products comprising a revolving cell wheel with compartments, each for receiving a printed product to be folded. Each compartment has a folding blade driven to be displaceable to-and-fro between a work stroke and a return stroke. The folding blade, prior to the start of its work stroke, moves past a stationarily arranged folding rail common to all compartments and during the course of its work stroke has its side which trails, as viewed in the revolving direction, move past a contact rail or contact roll arranged in each of the compartments. Infeed means serve to deliver a printed product to the leading side of the folding blade prior to the start of its work stroke in each compartment.
Abstract: A device for equalizing the spacing of printed products, such as newspapers, comprises a plurality of spacers movable in a path parallel to the path of the products. Each of the spacers receives the leading edge of a printed product and is driven thereby to a braking device that causes each spacer to abut the preceding spacer. The printed products are carried by a conveyer belt system and a sill raises their leading edges ready for reception by the spacers. After leaving the braking device, the products are deposited from the spacers which are then returned to a magazine to receive further products.
Abstract: An apparatus for destacking a substantially spiral-shaped formed stack of printed products, wherein the printed products partially bear upon one another in overlapping formation. There is provided a stack support for the reception of the stack of printed products at its support surface means. Further, a rotational drive serves to place into rotation the stack of printed substantially spiral-shaped formed stack of printed products supported upon the stack support about the axis of the spiral, there being provided a stationary opening or throughpassage at the stack support following which there is arranged an outfeed conveyor.
Abstract: A transport apparatus for printed products arriving in an imbricated formation, said transport apparatus comprising grippers or gripper elements anchored in spaced relationship from one another at a revolving traction element for engaging the leading edges of the printed products and for the transfer thereof for further conveying of such printed products. At a transfer zone the conveyor track of the imbricated product stream and a guide for the grippers extend in a direction towards one another. Each gripper comprises a guided upper clamping tongue or jaw and a lower clamping tongue or jaw which is mounted to be movable towards and away from the upper clamping jaw as well as being rotatably mounted.
