Publication number: 20190091145Abstract: A probiotic tablet comprising a probiotic micro-organism and other nutritionally active ingredients in two zones, a first zone comprising said probiotic micro-organism and precisely selenium, and a second zone comprising at least one said other active ingredient such as iron, other minerals and vitamin B6 kept separated from the probiotic micro-organism of said first zone, the water activity in said probiotic micro-organism containing first zone being no greater than 0.2 and the water content of said tablet being as much as 3% by weight. Good viability of the micro-organisms is obtained despite the relatively high overall moisture content.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 27, 2018Publication date: March 28, 2019Applicant: Ferrosan A/SInventors: Kristian Lund Henriksen, Helene Mathilda Mortensen, Marianne Winning

Publication number: 20110262553Abstract: Compositions comprising vitamin E, vitamin C, and white tea extract for treating cutaneous signs of aging are disclosed. The compositions reduce signs of wrinkles and improve other skin conditions, such as increased skin elasticity and skin softness. Moreover, the prevention or treatment of unhealthy skin, such as aged skin or skin overexposed to sunlight, may advantageously be accomplished by the administration of the compositions of the present invention. The compositions includes the combination of a number of different components, which interact to provide the desired improvements to the skin. Further advantageous ingredients of the compositions may comprise, naturally occurring antioxidants extracted from e.g. grape seeds and tomato, an extract comprising glycosaminoglycans, a transition metal component in an amount effective to bind collagen and elastic fibers and thicken skin, and a catechin-based component present in an amount sufficient to inhibit the presence of anti-collagen enzyme in the skin.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 24, 2005Publication date: October 27, 2011Applicant: FERROSAN A/SInventors: Annebeth Siø Jensen, Annette Strarup Kristensen, Henrik Enghusen Poulsen, Jana Vicanova, Nico Smit

Publication number: 20100143447Abstract: The present invention is directed to a wound or tissue dressing comprising a bacteria having the property of producing lactic acid from sugars by fermentation of the sugars. The bacteria preferably belongs to the family of lactic acid bacteria. The family of lactic acid bacteria refers to any bacteria belonging to a genus selected from the group consisting of Carnobacterium, Enterococcus, Lactobacillus, Lactococcus, Leuconostoc, Oenococcus, Pediococcus, Streptococcus, Tetragenococcus, Vagococcus and Weissella. There is also provided a wound or tissue dressing comprising an absorbent compound for absorbing wound exudate, wherein said wound or tissue dressing is attached to or comprises a lactic acid bacterium.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 19, 2007Publication date: June 10, 2010Applicant: FERROSAN A/SInventors: John E. Patent number: 7252845Abstract: Novel compositions of matter containing aromatic compounds and terpenoids which are present in and may preferably be derived from the plant Alpinia galanga (Zingiberaceae) show synergistic effects with respect to immunomodulation, and they significantly suppress hypersensitivity reactions. Thus they are used for preparing medicaments for these purposes and, more specifically, for the treatment or prevention of IgE mediated allergic reactions and conditions, such as asthma, allergic rhinitis, atopic eczema or anaphylaxis, and autoimmune disorders, such as Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, rheumatoid arthritis or psoriasis, as well as for the alleviation of pain. They can for example be formulated into pharmaceuticals, cosmetics or dietary supplements. A method of preparing such compositions from Alpinia galanga is also described.Type: GrantFiled: January 2, 2003Date of Patent: August 7, 2007Assignee: Ferrosan A/SInventors: Morten Sloth Weidner, Morten Just Petersen, Nina Worm Jensen

Patent number: 6805880Abstract: A pharmaceutical delivery system comprising a slow-release formulation of vitamin C (ascorbic acid) and a plain-release formulation of vitamin E (tocopherol) has been found to raise and maintain the concentrations of these vitamins in the blood plasma to a ratio of approximately 2.2:1. The steady-state concentration and ratio of these antioxidants has been found to be critical in the prevention and treatment of oxidative stress related disorders such as arteriosclerosis and diabetes and neural degenerative disorders such as Alzheimer's Disease.Type: GrantFiled: August 21, 2000Date of Patent: October 19, 2004Assignee: Ferrosan A/SInventors: Bent Højgaard, Henrik Enghusen Poulsen, Jukka Salonen

Patent number: 5715969Abstract: A health care product container having a generally rectangular cross section and closed at one end by a bottom wall molded integrally with the container vessel. The other end is provided with a filling opening which corresponds to the cross section of the container, and which is closed by a closing part. The container has an internal partition integral with the container vessel, parallel with one of its side walls, and dividing the container into first and second compartments. Each compartment is closed at one end by said bottom wall and being open at its other end. The closing part is so designed that it sealingly closes the first compartment at its one end, but leaves access to the second compartment, the sealed compartment being a product containing compartment provided with a dispensing opening closable by a stopper. The second compartment is closed by a lid hinged to the closure part or to the vessel.Type: GrantFiled: November 13, 1995Date of Patent: February 10, 1998Assignee: Ferrosan A/SInventors: S.o slashed.ren Seerup, John Seeberg
