  • Patent number: 5868756
Abstract: A handpiece for use in lithotripsy is provided with a probe which as a wave guide transmits shock waves that are produced by an impact force of a projectile acting against a mass body member located at the proximal end of the probe whereby this mass body member is located at the free end of a guide tube for said projectile and adapted for transmitting the impact force from the projectile to said probe the shock waves of which are adapted to cause an intercorporeal fragmentation of calculi.

  • Patent number: 5857851
Abstract: A dental handpiece for use with a prophylaxis treatment of carious teeth by means of a powder mixed with air and water is provided on a gripping sleeve of the handpiece with an integrated powder container which is formed as a closed hollow body of rotation. The hollow body of rotation forms a whirl chamber which spatially acts in all directions for a mixing of the stored powder with air which is supplied substantially in the geometric center of the body of rotation whereas the powder and air mixture which is formed in this powder container is transferred by means of a transfer line to a multiple nozzle arrangement of a spray head of the gripping sleeve via an inlet end of the transfer line which is provided also substantially in this geometric center directly adjacent to the outlet end of the flow line for air, the nozzle arrangement being also connected with a supply line for water.

  • Patent number: 5840061
Abstract: An ejection apparatus for the high pressure ejection of a liquid. The apparatus has the following elements: (a) a pressure chamber for containing the liquid; (b) an ejection opening communicating between an outside and an inside of the pressure chamber; (c) a working piston displaceable in the pressure chamber from a first position at a beginning of a working stroke to second position at an end of the working stroke, having (1) a first end defining a first volume within the pressure chamber when the working piston is at the first position and displacing a second volume, less than the first volume, when the working piston moves from the first position to the second position, and (2) having a second end distal from the first end; and (d) a drive for driving the working piston including (1) an impact member for elastically impacting the second end of the working piston to cause the working piston from the first to the second position and (2) means for accelerating the impact member to impact the working piston.

  • Patent number: 5246422
Abstract: The device consists of a permanent module (10) and a removable cassette (11). The permanent module comprises a housing (12) with control keys (13) and physical value indicators (14), and two drive hubs (20, 21) for driving two peristaltic pumps mounted in a cassette. The inlet duct (15) of the first pump is connected to a container of physiological liquid, the outlet duct (16) of this pump supplies said liquid to the operating zone, and the duct (17) of the second pump is connected to an operating instrument to drain off the liquid, the duct (18) of this second pump being coupled with a drainage circuit.

  • Patent number: 5160336
Abstract: The device comprises a shock wave generator (1, 2, 3) of the ballistic type comprising a projectile (1) provided to execute a to and fro movement within a guide tube, under the control of pneumatic means (13, 14, 5) disposed at one end of this guide tube. A waveguide (4, 19) exhibits an entrance interface (9) situated at the other end of the guide tube (2) and provided to be struck periodically by the projectile and thus to generate, by ballistic effect, ultrasonic shock waves. This waveguide per se is formed by a metal rod, one end of which forms the abovementioned entrance interface and can oscillate longitudinally within a guide (12), while its other end is provided to act by impact on the object (21) to be destroyed or to be processed.
