Abstract: An awning with a permanently installed housing for accommodation of an awning roll, rotatably supported on a shaft, comprising a shutter section adapted to be moved out of a run-out opening of the awning and containing the extensible end of the awning; housing side sections in which the shaft of the awning is held on each side, an actuating mechanism which is coupled to a winch engaging one end of the shaft, and at least one cover section, adapted to be swung open or removed, on the housing, the housing section opposite to the actuating mechanism comprising a mounting device in which the shaft of the awning roll can be inserted and from which it can be removed for the purpose of inserting the awning roll in and re-moving it from the housing, with the cover section opened, without removing the housing side section.

Abstract: An awning retractable by being wound onto a roller and associated with legs permitting it to be maintained in position above the area to be sheltered when unrolled. The roller (1) is hollow, and the legs (2, 3) of the awning, which are foldable so that in the folded state their length is about one-half that of the roller, are adapted to fit into the roller when the awning is rolled up. Instead of being permanently attached to a mounting wall for the awning, the roller is preferably fastened to the free edge of the awning so that it accompanies the unrolling thereof.

Abstract: A safety device for an awning with a permanently installed housing (2) for accommodation of the awning roll (2); with a shutter section which contains the extensible end of the be secured to the housing by means of a locking mechanism, and which in its retracted position serves to close a run-out opening in the housing; and with a warning device adapted to be actuated upon the retraction of the shutter section into the housing through the mechanical cooperation of a first means provided in the shutter section and of a second means provided in the housing, where the warming device is disposed on one of said means that is displaceably mounted and where the warming device provides a visible indication that distinguishes the condition of the shutter section in which it has not yet been fully retracted into the housing and interlocked with it from the condition of accomplished interlocking, thus providing assurance that locking has actually occurred.

Abstract: A retractable, roller-mounted fabric awning enclosed in a box-type assembly, which together with a releasable front bar, to which a front end of the awning is attached, thus forming a fully-enclosed housing for the awning, is provided for mounting on recreational vehicles and the like. A security lock mechanism to secure the front bar which contains a pair of pivotally mounted articulated folding support arms and a pair of pivotally mounted telescoping support legs, when the awning is in a retracted position, is provided to prevent the inadvertent detachment of the front bar from its releasably interlocking relationship with the awning box assembly while the awning is in a retracted position, and particularly when the vehicle to which the awning box assembly is mounted is being driven.
