Patents Assigned to FIAT POWERTRAIN TECHNOLOGIES S.P.A.
  • Patent number: 9816410
Abstract: A separator device for a system for recirculation of the blow-by gases of an internal combustion engine includes a casing containing a separation chamber and having an inlet for communication with the engine crankcase and an outlet for communication with the engine intake manifold, and drainage outlets ending in the engine crankcase, for returning the liquid separated in the separation chamber into the engine crankcase. Actuator means sensitive to pressure in the engine crankcase are associated to the inlet and to the drainage outlets so that when the pressure in the engine crankcase is higher than the pressure in the separator device, the inlet is open and the drainage outlets are closed, while when the pressure in the engine crankcase is lower than the pressure in the separator device, the inlet is closed and the drainage outlets are open.

  • Patent number: 9316192
Abstract: In a gaseous-fuel-injector device for internal-combustion motor-vehicle engines, the valve body of the injector device has one or more auxiliary openings giving out onto an internal surface of the valve body in which the valve member of the injector device is slidably mounted. Said auxiliary openings are arranged in such a way as to enable the inflow of the gaseous fuel coming from the supply, not only into the inlet opening of the injector device, but also into the internal area of the valve body in which the valve member is slidably mounted, so as to obtain an effect of ventilation and flushing, by means of the flow of gaseous fuel, in an area where there tend to form deposits of the oily substances contained in the gaseous fuel.

  • Patent number: 8919098
Abstract: In a diesel engine equipped with a system for automatic regeneration of a particulate filter, an automatic regeneration mode is inhibited in the case where there is recorded a number higher than a pre-set threshold of unfavorable event. When the automatic regeneration mode is inhibited, an on-demand regeneration mode is simultaneously enabled, which can be activated manually by the driver. If an on-demand regeneration is not performed before the vehicle has covered a certain mileage since the automatic regeneration mode was inhibited, the vehicle is set in a condition of limited performance.

  • Patent number: 8904897
Abstract: A device for controlling a device for locking a motor-vehicle gear change in a parking condition includes a transmission which connects the gear change lever to a driven member movable between an operative position and an inoperative position, respectively for engagement and disengagement of the locking device. The transmission is connected to the driven member through a rotatable drum with a cylindrical surface having a cam-track cooperating with a cam-following element. The cam-track is designed so as to cause engagement of the locking device when the transmission is subjected to a pulling action or to a pushing action, depending upon the requirements.

  • Patent number: 8714128
Abstract: A cylinder head for an internal combustion engine has a body integrating, in a single cast piece, an exhaust manifold and including a lower cooling jacket and an upper cooling jacket, The lower cooling jacket is longitudinally divided into a plurality of separate transverse chambers associated to various engine cylinders, while the upper cooling jacket has a portion extending longitudinally over the entire development of the head and communicating with separate transverse chambers located on the intake side of the head. The exhaust conduits integrated in the head form separate subgroups of exhaust conduits merging into manifold portions superimposed and spaced apart from each other. The lower cooling jacket has a portion thereof which extends in the area of the body of the head which separates the superimposed portions of the abovementioned subgroups of exhaust conduits.

  • Publication number: 20130276767
Abstract: A separator device for a system for recirculation of blow-by gases of an internal-combustion engine comprises an elongated casing defining a separation chamber with an inlet at one end, for communication with the crankcase, an outlet at the second end, for communication with the intake system of the engine, and an end wall with at least one draining sump for draining the liquid separated in the separation chamber for return of the separated liquid into the crankcase. Associated to said inlet is an open/close element with flexible flap that opens when the crankcase is in overpressure with respect to the separation chamber, whereas associated to each draining sump is a membrane open/close element that, in the aforesaid condition of overpressure, closes, whereas, when the crankcase is in negative pressure, opens, enabling return of the liquid separated and collected inside each draining sump into the crankcase.

  • Publication number: 20130055973
Abstract: In a multi-cylinder internal combustion engine, valves of the engine, in particular the exhaust valves (3), are actuated by rocker arms (18) each of which is rotatably mounted on the structure of the engine with the interposition of an eccentric bushing (39), whose rotation allows varying the position of the rotational axis of the respective rocker arm, so as to activate and deactivate an extra-lift of the engine valve. The eccentric bushings (38) associated to the rocker arms (18) of the various cylinders of the engine are all connected in rotation with a common shaft (100) which is rotatably supported on the structure of the engine and which can be rotated through actuator means (105) preferably arranged outside the engine.

Abstract: A cylinder block for an internal-combustion engine includes a first cavity and a second cavity adapted to contain a cooling liquid extend around respective portions of the cylinder. The first cavity of each cylinder communicates hydraulically with the first cavity of at least one adjacent cylinder to define a first cooling jacket. The second cavity of each cylinder communicates hydraulically with the second cavity of at least one adjacent cylinder to define a second cooling jacket. The first and the second cooling jackets each are in fluid communication with a second supply channel. Each of the supply channels is in fluid communication with a supply source with a direction of flow such that the cooling liquid goes towards the first and second cooling jackets, coming out through the top face.
