Abstract: A rescue device includes at least two parallel columns defining a core section. The columns are located in a substantially flat plane with each column lying adjacent at least one other column. Each column includes rods, a connection device, and at least one sleeve. Each rod is located within a sleeve and the rods are connectable in series by the connection devices to form a column. The rescue device further includes at least one linking element. Each sleeve is connected to at least one linking element.
