  • Patent number: 4619032
Abstract: In the Fibrestone Building Construction a thin fiber reinforced wall formed of sprayed concrete and short lengths of fibers, such as glass fibers, forms the outer shell of the wall exposed to atmosphere. An inner load supporting structure is secured to the inner surface of the outer shell. This load supporting structure consists for example of a metal frame aligned with the inner surface of the shell, and spaced metal studs. A differential of temperature exists between the outer surface of the fiber reinforced shell subjected to atmospheric temperatures and the inner load supporting structure because the inner members are shielded from atmospheric temperatures by the outer shell. The outer and inner members of the wall being formed of different materials have different coefficients of expansion when subjected to varying temperatures.

  • Patent number: 4554124
Abstract: In the Fibrestone Building Construction the outer or exterior shell or panel is formed of a plastic material such as concrete reinforced by a high concentration of fibers, such as glass or other fibrous material randomly disbursed in the mass of the moldable material such as concrete. If desired the fibers can be chopped up to accelerate their bonding in the mass of the moldable material. This moldable material and the fibrous reinforcement may be sprayed under pressure into a mold having a surface which it is desired to reproduce. The surface of the mold is reproduced faithfully, and a relatively thin but strong outer shell embodying the desired contour is thus formed. This outer shell or wall is assembled in a horizontal position, with its outer face down, with a frame of substantially uniform thickness throughout. All necessary insulation, wall reinforcements, appliance fittings, door and window cutouts and spaces for wall connectors and utility outlets are installed within the thickness of the framework.
