Patents Assigned to Field Container Company L.P.
  • Patent number: 6681983
Abstract: A paperboard box has removable identifying indicia. In a first embodiment, the top of the box has a central opening that may be rectangular in shape. Each corner of the opening has a removable tab and each of the tabs carries a different message. For example, the messages can relate to different kinds of pies such as, for example, “apple”, “cherry”, and “blueberry”. One of the tabs may be provided with a line to provide a location where an identifier may be handwritten using any suitable writing instrument. As an alternative example, the writing on each tab may relate to an occasion such as “Happy Birthday”, “Happy Anniversary”, “Congratulations” or “Bon Voyage”. A product is placed into the box and the cover is closed thereover. All of the tabs are removed with the exception of the remaining tab that accurately describes either the contents of the box or the occasion being celebrated or observed or other message.

  • Patent number: 5682982
Abstract: A blank for carrying bottles with an engaging edge has a center panel, a pair of securing panels, a pair of handle panels, an exterior grip support panel and an interior grip support panel. The center panel has a plurality of apertures and access tabs formed therein, and each aperture has an access tab associated therewith. The securing panels have apertures formed therein to match the number of apertures in the center panel. The securing panels also have individual flaps formed therein, and each aperture of the securing panels is associated with an individual flap. When the blank is folded and formed into a carrier, the apertures and access tabs of the center panel and the apertures and individual flaps of the securing panel create a corresponding number of bottle receiving collars. Consequently, when bottles are placed into the carrier, each bottle receiving collar engages the engaging edge of each bottle and supports each bottle during transport.

  • Patent number: 5573177
Abstract: A carton blank and carton have a reclosable hinged flap formed from a panel and glue flap of the carton. The flap is opened by depressing a disengaging tab formed in another panel of the carton. The disengaging tab overlies a portion of the flap so that depression of the tab moves the flap to separate the flap from the remainder of the panel in which it is formed. Fifty-percent cuts through the carton panels are used to separate the flaps from the panels.

  • Patent number: 5503326
Abstract: A carton for containing ice cream has cover, top, rear, bottom and front panels and right and left end flaps on each of the cover, top, rear, bottom and front panels. The bottom panel end flaps are designed to be folded to seal the end of the carton such that the upper edges of those bottom panel end flaps contact lines of juncture between the top panel and the top panel end flaps. The bottom panel end flaps have a line of weakness adjacent the upper edge which permits bending of that flap when ice cream in the carton expands. The front panel end flaps overlie the bottom panel end flaps when the carton is sealed, but the upper edge of the front panel end flaps is below the line of weakness on the bottom panel end flaps so as not to interfere with the bowing of the bottom panel end flaps.

  • Patent number: 5333779
Abstract: A paperboard flat blank is scored for folding to form a container sleeve. The flat blank comprises at least first and second flat blank portions which have been sealed together along a seal line or lines to form the entire, flat blank. The majority of the area of each flat blank portion is free of contact with the other flat blank portion, i.e., the respective portions are not separate layers of a flat blank, but are separate, spaced portions thereof, connected together by one or more seal lines. The first flat blank portion exhibits at least one physical property that is different from the corresponding physical property of the second flat blank portion, other than the scoring and the shape and size in the plane of the flat blank. For example, one flat blank may be made of recycled material and the other of virgin material. The two flat blanks may have different thicknesses, or differing surface treatment, one being impregnated with oil or plastic and the other being free of such impregnation, or the like.

  • Patent number: 5167325
Abstract: A carrier for containers comprises a folded, generally stiff sheet, such as cardboard, defining a top wall, side walls, and a bottom wall. The carrier further defines apertures in the top wall for receiving the containers, with at least portions of the containers being positioned between the side walls. In accordance with this invention, the top wall defines a central, double-layered, integral handle portion of the folded sheet projecting outwardly from the remainder of the top wall. An inner sheet is positioned along the underside of the top wall and is attached to the folded sheet, to hold the handle portion in its outwardly projecting position.
