Abstract: A method for controlling an electronic device includes activating a camera to acquire an image of a user of the electronic device. A distance from the user to the electronic device is acquired. A distance range of the acquired distance is obtained by searching the mapping table, and a value is calculated based on the image of the user. When the user is determined to be a specific type based on the calculated value and the predetermined value corresponding to the determined distance range, a first function is executed, and a second function is executed when the user is determined not to be the specific type.
