  • Patent number: 10793455
Abstract: A method of chlorinating drinking water on a ship with a production and distribution system includes a recirculation distribution network and device for injecting a chlorine compound generating free chlorine into the network in an injection point. A regimen set point is set for free chlorine concentration at the injection point between 0.4 and 1.2 mg/l. Free chlorine concentration is monitored proximate the injection point by a first probe. Free chlorine concentration at a point furthest from the injection point is monitored by a second probe. The chlorine compound is injected into the distribution network to maintain the free chlorine concentration at the regimen set point. Regimen chlorination is performed if the second probe does not detect free chlorine concentration variations from the regimen set or detects variations in concentration relative to the regimen set point lower than a safety limit and/or duration lower than a safety time limit.

  • Patent number: 10530065
Abstract: A waveguide radiating element (10) is described comprising: —an electrically conductive support body (2, 12) inside which a first recess (3) is defined, delimited at the front by a radiating opening (4), and laterally delimited by at least one side wall (5, 6); —at least one electrically conductive impedance matching unit (20) having a portion (21) projecting from said side wall (5, 6) and positioned inside the first recess (3), the projecting portion (21) having a step or ramp-shaped surface. The impedance matching unit (20) comprises an attachment portion (22) adjacent to the projecting portion (21) and inside the electrically conductive body (2) a second recess (13) is defined, adjacent to the first recess (3) and communicating with the first recess (3), inside which the attachment portion (22) of the impedance matching unit (20) is coupled.

  • Patent number: 9919775
Abstract: Ships for navigating in icy waters are provided. Such ships include in the stern area a wedge which extends from bottom of the ship downwards transversely to the ship. The wedge may have a first surface inclined towards the bow and a second surface inclined towards stern with respect to a horizontal plane. These two surfaces can be connected to each other forming a lower edge of wedge. The wedge is at least partially arranged below waterline of the ship. The first inclined surface is dimensioned in such a way that in the case of forward motion, the first surface contacting the flow of water, generates a lift force in order to modify the longitudinal trim of the ship acting as a trim wedge. The second inclined surface also is shaped advantageously in the case of reverse motion in icy waters.

  • Patent number: 9725135
Abstract: A method for the maintenance of a ship or platform propulsion assembly includes providing a hull insert forming a watertight housing located within a hull of a ship except for an opening. A motor is in the hull external to the housing and a thruster is external to the hull. A telescopic driving shaft sealingly passes through one of the walls of the housing to operatively connect the motor and the thruster to transmit movement to the thruster. Moving the thruster includes retracting the thruster into the housing through the opening. A separable submersible movable hatch is lowered by removable hanging cables. The submersible movable hatch externally engages the housing and sealingly closes the opening to close the housing and form a watertight closed chamber. Fluids within the closed chamber are evacuated even when the hull is floating and partially submersed, with the thruster at least partially in air.

  • Patent number: 9623942
Abstract: A propulsion assembly of a ship or floating platform includes a housing within a hull or platform. The housing is watertight except for an opening external to the hull. A stationary motor is arranged in the hull external to the housing. A thruster is external to the hull to generate thrust on the ship or floating platform. A telescopic driving shaft passes sealingly through a housing wall to connect the motor and the thruster and to transmit movement from the motor to the thruster. The thruster retracts within the housing through the opening. A separate submersible movable hatch is disconnectable from the thruster and the housing and passes externally to the hull, and seals the opening to form a watertight closed chamber. A fluid evacuation device evacuates fluid within the closed chamber so the thruster, when retracted in the housing and closed by the hatch, forms the closed chamber.
