Abstract: A laser beam absorbing resin composition adaptable for laser marking, and a markable article formulated from such resin composition is provided. The composition includes at least a urea-based thermosetting resin, a cellulose reinforcement, and titanium dioxide. The titanium dioxide is preferably present in a concentration of at least about 1.5 wt % of the composition, more preferably in a range of at least about 1.5 wt % to at most about 5 wt % of the composition, and most preferably in a range of at least about 2 wt % to at most about 5 wt % of the composition.
