  • Patent number: 5223192
Abstract: A method of monitoring maximum pressing forces of a pelletizing machine provided with a rotatable matrix disc and plungers, involves the steps of supplying values corresponding to pressing forces applied by plungers for evaluation in a computer so as to control a deviating device, detecting a position of the matrix disc continuously by an angle pulse transmitter and releasing pulses by the latter to supply the pulses to the computer, and coordinating the pulses with predetermined maximum pressing force values and supplying to evaluation. The pelletizing machine has a rotatable matrix disc, plungers whose maximum pressing forces are supplied for evaluation, a computer to which the maximum pressing forces of the plungers are supplied for evaluation, and an angle pulse transmitter supplying pulses released by the matrix disc during its rotation into the computer for an association to measured maximum pressing forces.

  • Patent number: 5221543
Abstract: A process is disclosed for making a chewing gum with a fast release, stabilized chewing gum. According to the method, a quantity of aspartame (APM) is mixed with an agglomerating agent, such as a modified cellulose, and a limited quantity of a solvent for the agglomerating agent, such as water. The quantity of solvent is limited so as to produce a mixture which is only moist or damp. This damp mixture is characterized as being dust-free, non-flowing and crumbly. The damp mixture is then dried and the dried mixture is comminuted, e.g. by grinding, to produce particles of APM ingredient with essentially a maximum particle size of about 0.017 inches. These particles of APM ingredient are then added to a chewing gum formulation.

  • Patent number: 4999151
Abstract: A method for quality assurance in the manufacture of tablets. Tablet samples consisting of a plurality of tablets are taken whose actual weight is compared with their nominal weight, so that the tabletting machine is subsequently adjusted according to the deviation in order to adjust the weight of the tablets to the nominal weight. If the sample of tablets contains one or several tablets which, as so-called error tablets, show significant deviation from the nominal weight due to flawed manufacture, inaccuracy of the result so obtained is avoided if prior to adjustment of the machine, the weights of the individual sample tablets are measured and compared with one another. If it is found that the sample contains tablets with significant deviation from their nominal weight, such tablets may be taken into account in the statistical analysis by corrective computation.

  • Patent number: 4988275
Abstract: A rotary pelletizing machine includes a housing and a pelletizing assembly removably secured in the housing and including a rotatable matrix disc, upper and lower punches supported in the matrix disc for joint rotation therewith and axial displacement relative thereto, upper and lower cams for controlling positions of the upper and lower discs, and elements that enable rotation of the matrix disc relative to the cams. Upon releasing elements that secure the assembly in the housing, the pelletizing assembly can be lifted from a drive shaft that extends in the housing for imparting rotation to the matrix disc, as a unit.
