Abstract: An absorbent article is provided with microencapsulated phase change material (microPCM) particles that are embedded in and/or coated onto a layer of the absorbent article that includes a resilient sheet of an open-cell foam. The foam layer is disposed such that it is in contact with or is in proximity to the user. The microPCM particles absorb heat generated during use of the absorbent article to reduce the contact temperature on the inside of the absorbent article and improve the comfort of the user. To maximize comfort, the phase change temperature of the microPCM particles may be an average normal body temperature.

Abstract: A flexible absorbent pad has a dry thickness of between 2 mm and 10 mm and a difference in flexural-resistance between the dry state and the wet state of an absorbent center zone of the absorbent pad of less than 100 grams-force. The absorbent core of the pad may include an airlaid, a foam, or a fibrous staple filament. The absorbent core of the absorbent pad may be corrugated, such as with flexure hinges, in which case adhesive is applied to the backsheet of the absorbent pad in a pattern that leaves the flexure hinges devoid of adhesive so that the backsheet is attached to the absorbent core in a manner that does not impede the flexing of the flexure hinges.

Abstract: The present invention describes a novel absorbent core for the absorbent article in which the top surface of the core is embossed in a pattern that is made from curves rather than straight lines or polygons. In a preferred embodiment, the top surface is embossed with a pattern made by circles with spacing between consecutive circles. The novel article is not only less rigid and smoother on the body surface, but also exhibits better absorptive capacity. Various other embodiments are described and are within the scope of the invention.

Abstract: An absorbent article including a chassis, and first and second fastener ears coupled to the chassis, each fastener ear having a wave crest portion having an upper edge and a lower edge. A portion of the upper edge of the first fastener ear corresponds to a portion of the lower edge of the second fastener ear, and a portion of the upper edge of the first fastener ear does not correspond to a portion of the lower edge of the second fastener ear.

Abstract: An absorbent article is provided that includes a top sheet and a back sheet joined to form side seam regions. An absorbent core is disposed between the top sheet and the back sheet; and laterally oriented elastics are disposed between the top sheet and the back sheet. The elastics include a first elastic region disposed adjacent to the front end and a second elastic region disposed adjacent the first elastic region. The second elastic region includes one or more elastic elements that extend between the side seam regions. The elastic elements have internal cuts adjacent the side seams in a configuration that relieves elastic tension adjacent the side seams regions.

Abstract: A method of forming a surface cleaning pad body comprising a matrix web of binder fibers and superabsorbent polymer particles is provided. The method comprises the steps of depositing a mass of binder fibers onto a conveyor, shielding all but a selected area of the mass of binder fibers, depositing superabsorbent polymer particles onto the selected area of the mass of binder fibers so as to disburse superabsorbent polymer particles throughout a thickness of the mass of binder fibers, and bonding the mass of binder fibers to form a web structure and to substantially contain the superabsorbent polymer particles, thereby providing a cleaning pad body with superabsorbent polymer particles substantially contained in a zone of the mass of binder fibers that occupies at least a portion of the thickness of the mass of binder fibers and the selected area.

Abstract: A disposable absorbent article includes a main body, a sleeve-like member extending adjacent the waist edge of the front or rear portions, and an adjustable elastomeric waist belt having a central portion and a pair of opposite free ends each defining ear-like projections. The central portion of the elastomeric member can be disposed in a sleeve-like member with each ear-like projection extending out from opposite sides. The central portion can be attached to the sleeve-like member and/or the main body near a longitudinal axis of the main body or adjacent the waist edge of the main body. The ear-like projections can be attachable to each other or the main body to form the desired waist size of the wearer of the absorbent article.

Abstract: A floor cleaning pad is provided having a pad body comprising a cleaning surface configured for contact with a floor to be cleaned and an opposed surface configured to be coupled to a floor cleaning implement. The cleaning surface and the opposed surface defining a thickness of the pad body and superabsorbent polymer particles maintained within a zone of the pad body, and the zone of the superabsorbent polymer particles occupying a portion of the thickness and an area less than an area of the cleaning surface.

Abstract: A disposable absorbent article with an associated polymer film that is positioned to be activated by contact with bodily fluids, wherein the polymer film can release odor control and/or skin wellness agents upon contact with such bodily fluids. The polymer film can release the odor control and/or skin wellness agents immediately, gradually over a period of time after contact with such bodily fluids, or a combination of both. The polymer film can also be used for household cleaning applications, in which the polymer film can similarly contain and subsequently release household cleaning agents upon contact with water.
