Abstract: The invention includes a skate comprising a toe box portion, a front frame portion, a heel portion, and a rear frame portion. The front frame portion is preferably integrally connected to the toe box portion which includes an instep side and an outer side. The front frame portion is adapted to hold at least one ground engaging wheel. The rear frame portion is integrally connected to the heel portion and includes an instep side and an outer side. The rear frame portion is adapted to hold at least one ground engaging wheel. The rear frame portion includes a first forwardly extending arm that slideably engages the front frame portion. The front frame portion includes a first rearwardly extending arm that slideably engages the rear frame portion. The toe box portion and the heel portion are slidable towards or away from each other to adjust the length of the skate.
Abstract: A hockey stick handle shaft comprising a substantially rectangular cross-sectional core member. The substantially rectangular cross-sectional core member includes first and second major surfaces, with each major surface positioned opposite one another. The core member further includes a first member adhered to the first major surface and a second member adhered to the opposite second major surface, the first and second members increasing the structural integrity of the core member.
Abstract: A method of molding different versions of a skate component, the method including providing a single mold, the mold having a mold cavity capable of molding the skate component; attaching a first mold insert within the mold cavity to set a skate feature; injecting molding resin into the mold cavity, the mold cavity including the first mold insert, to form a first version of the skate component; replacing the first mold insert within the mold cavity with a second mold insert to change the skate feature; and injecting molding resin into the mold cavity, the mold cavity including the second mold insert, to form a second version of the skate component.
Abstract: The present invention includes an in-line roller skate substantially free of the effects of differential shrinkage and a method of molding an in-line skate substantially free of the effects of differential shrinkage, the skate including a molded boot with a sole; a molded wheel frame integral with the sole; a plurality of in-line wheels rotatably attached to the wheel frame; and a mechanism for minimizing the effects of differential shrinkage.
