Abstract: Methods and systems for providing a name-based communication service. A system may comprise an input for receiving from a first communication device a name registered in connection with the communication service and provided by a user of the first communication device. The system may also comprise a processing entity for: identifying a profile associated with the name and configured by a party having registered the name; determining, based on the profile, at least one action to perform from among a plurality of actions performable by said system, the plurality of actions including: (i) transmitting to the first communication device information regarding the party and included in the profile; and (ii) attempting to establish a phone call between the first communication device and a second communication device associated with the party; and performing the at least one action.
