Patent number: 11882824Abstract: A vial sleeve for a cryogenic vial includes a cover portion including a side wall defining a cavity for receiving at least a portion of the vial, and a locking feature configured to operatively engage at least a portion of the vial for resisting movement of the vial relative to the vial sleeve. The vial sleeve may include a first label adhered to an exterior surface of the side wall and including a first set of indicia. The first set of indicia may be different from a second set of indicia included on a second label adhered to an exterior surface of the vial.Type: GrantFiled: July 31, 2019Date of Patent: January 30, 2024Assignee: Fisher BioServices Inc.Inventors: Abdul H. Patent number: 11540510Abstract: A storage rack for storing and retrieving products to be maintained at a desired cryogenic temperature is provided. The storage rack includes an elongate mounting bar carrying a plurality of shelves, and an elongate stop bar that extends generally parallel to the mounting bar. The shelves are independently rotatable relative to the mounting bar towards and away from the stop bar, thereby enabling alignment of all of the shelves when the storage rack is to be stored, and also enabling easy access to each of the individual shelves. A handle projects upwardly and horizontally in a curved configuration from the stop bar and the mounting bar to provide a gripping surface for moving the storage rack. The shelves receive cylindrical vial containers with threadably removable lids to make retrieval and replacement of sample vials quick to perform, thereby avoiding temperature-induced damage to other samples in the storage rack.Type: GrantFiled: December 17, 2019Date of Patent: January 3, 2023Assignee: Fisher BioServices Inc.Inventor: Abdul H. Ally

Patent number: 9745176Abstract: A method for retrieving storage racks in a tank freezer includes positioning a retrieval crane adjacent to the tank freezer such that a base of the retrieval crane is positionable underneath a bottom wall of a tank body. The retrieval crane includes a boom extending upwardly and laterally outwardly over the base so that a retention hook at a free end of a cable associated with the boom may be extended or retracted relative to the tank freezer. More specifically, the cable may be moved to extend the hook through the opening of the tank freezer into a storage space, and then retract the hook to lift and then hold a selected storage rack in a hoisted position. The method avoids the use of manual hoisting of storage racks, and the retrieval crane may be used with any of a plurality of similar tank freezers located in a larger facility.Type: GrantFiled: May 8, 2014Date of Patent: August 29, 2017Assignee: Fisher BioServices Inc.Inventors: Susan Murphy Meslovich, Erman Mandaci

Publication number: 20110282827Abstract: Embodiments of the invention provide a method and apparatus to evaluate at least one specimen for a predetermined purpose. The method comprises establishing at least one category that includes a plurality of criteria with which to evaluate the at least one specimen and receiving at least one scoring parameter that weights the at least one category. The method further comprises presenting at least some of the plurality of criteria to the user and calculating, based upon the scoring parameter as well as data entered by the user and associated with the presented criteria, a score for the at least one specimen.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 6, 2011Publication date: November 17, 2011Applicants: THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, FISHER BIOSERVICES INC.Inventors: Kathleen H.
