Abstract: A basket catcher for catching debris such as broken metal bands from an oil borehole casing as production tubing is withdrawn. The basket catcher has a collar that includes a series of spring-tensioned blades directed upwardly catch debris as the basket is withdrawn through the casing, preventing the debris from occluding the borehole.
Abstract: A device for providing fluid cross over in a milling operation is set forth. It is particularly used by connection to a pipe string which supports the milling device for cutting junk from a well. It features an elongate hollow tool body having a central portion which defines a trash receiving chamber. There is a pipe inserted into this chamber from below for introducing return fluid after cutting which is laden with metal shavings, chips, and trash. In this chamber, fluid flows upwardly through the pipe, and trash collects in the chamber by surrounding the pipe falling to the bottom of the chamber by weight. The chamber is limited at the top end by transverse wall which has a number of perforations having an aggregate cross sectional area to prevent fluid flow restriction.

Abstract: A power swivel particularly adapted for downhole cementing operations. The power swivel includes a housing having a fluid passageway therethrough and a stem assembly mounted for rotational movement with respect to the housing and having a fluid passageway communicating with the housing passageway. A hollow bore motor mounted with the housing receives the stem assembly through a central bore of the motor and rotates the stem assembly with respect to the housing.
Abstract: A cementing head for use in the cementing of casing in a wellbore, wherein means are provided internally of a tubular housing for normally directing drilling fluid or mud through the cementing head prior to introducing cement therethrough, and wherein cement control means are also disposed internally of the tubular housing for regulating and controlling the introduction of a first cementing plug in advance of cement, followed by a second cement plug, and with means for thereafter pumping drilling fluid or mud down to wash out the cement from the cementing head while forcing the second cementing plug down the casing above the cement.
