Abstract: Techniques for automatic tracking of user data for exercises are disclosed. In one aspect, a method of operating a wearable device may involve determining, based on output of one or more biometric sensors, that a user of the wearable device has started an exercise and identifying a type of the exercise that the user has started based on comparing the output of the one or more biometric sensors to defined sensor data for a plurality of exercise types. The method may further include adjusting a global positioning system (GPS) receiver in response to determining the start of the exercise and based on the type of the exercise.

Abstract: In one embodiment, an electronic device to be worn on a user's forearm includes a display and a set of one or more sensors that provide sensor data. In one aspect, a device may detect, using sensor data obtained from a set of sensors, that a first activity state of a user is active. The device may determine, while the first activity state is active, that the sensor data matches a watch check rule associated with the first activity state. Responsive to the detected match, the device may cause a change in visibility of the display.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a data processing method comprises obtaining one or more first photoplethysmography (PPG) signals based on one or more first light sources that are configured to emit light having a first light wavelength corresponding to a green light wavelength; obtaining one or more second PPG signals based on one or more second light sources that are configured to emit light having a second light wavelength corresponding to a red light wavelength, one or more of the first light sources and one or more of the second light sources being co-located; generating an estimated heart rate value based on one or more of the first PPG signals and the second PPG signals; and causing the estimated heart rate value to be displayed via a user interface on a client device.

Abstract: A band latch mechanism that is configured to connect a wristband to a fitness tracker is provided. The band latch mechanism may be configured to be inserted into a cavity of a housing of the fitness tracker and configured so that any metallic body of the band latch mechanism does not contact metallic surfaces of the cavity in order to prevent an electrical ground from being positioned within a keep-out zone of an antenna of the fitness tracker. A housing with integrated antenna structures is also disclosed.

Abstract: In an embodiment, a data processing method comprises obtaining one or more photoplethysmography (PPG) signals from one or more PPG sensors of a monitoring apparatus, the PPG signals being generated based upon optically detecting pulsed variations in blood flow; obtaining a motion sensor signal from a motion sensor in the monitoring apparatus; identifying, based upon the motion sensor signal, one or more periods of motion (e.g., low motion) of the monitoring apparatus; and selectively obtaining and storing segments of the PPG signals based on a temporal relationship between the segments of the PPG signals and the identified periods of motion.
