  • Patent number: 8641690
Abstract: An apparatus for treatment of external hemorrhaging has a panel for applying pressure to an absorbent pad and a wound on a body part. The panel has a central portion located between first and second arms which extend outwardly and in transversely opposed directions from the central portion. The apparatus includes a strap which is attached to the first arm at or near a first strap end, and is releasably attachable to the second arm at an attachment region of the strap spaced apart from the first strap end. When the panel is strapped to the body part, the tension in the strap pulls on and elastically deforms the first and second arms of the panel inwardly toward the body part, and applies localized pressure to the pad and wound.

  • Patent number: 8261673
Abstract: A pallet having an upper deck and a lower deck secured by supporting block members. The upper deck may include a plurality of board members and may be provided with at least one lead board operable to serve as an energy attenuator. The lead board may comprise a composite material and may be formed using pultrusion techniques. The lead board may be separated or spaced from an adjacent board member by a gap or scallop type area and may be operable to flex inwardly or otherwise upon impact to absorb energy. The gap or scallop type area may be suitable to operate in combination with the lead board as a handle mechanism for grabbing or lifting the pallet. The lead board may also be used to attach shipping straps.

  • Publication number: 20020169699
Abstract: An accounting device of the invention cooperates with a terminal station which is used for the user to use information from an information provider and includes, a first input unit for inputting first data PIDi and PIDj regarding the contents of providing information, a second input unit for inputting second data TIDi and TIDj which is concerned with the providing information and is not concerned with the contents, a third input unit for inputting third data PPC indicative of money information, and a checking unit for discriminating a permission or an inhibition of the use of the information at the terminal station by using at least one of the first and second, and third data. The checking unit outputs a discrimination result about the permission or inhibition of the use to the external of the accounting device, thereby properly inhibiting the illegal use of the terminal station and contributing to a spread of a network terminal apparatus.

  • Patent number: 6142360
Abstract: A method of welding two tubular members (1, 2) in end to end relationship includes providing the end of each tubular member (1, 2) to be joined with a shaped portion (3, 4). The shaped portion (3, 4) has a surface (10) which is substantially perpendicular to the radius of the tubular member (1, 2) and a second surface (13) at an obtuse angle to the radius of the tubular member (1, 2). Hence, when the ends to be joined are brought into contact with each other, shaped portions (3, 4) define a three-sided channel (13, 10, 13). A ring-shaped member (6) having a quadrilateral cross section is located in the channel. The ring-shaped member (6) has a radius which is greater than the radius of the first surface and less than the radius of the external wall of the tubular member (1, 2).
