  • Patent number: 11865164
Abstract: A pharmaceutical composition for treating cancer, containing a crRNA and an endonuclease as active ingredients is disclosed. The composition can be customized according to the needs of patients or cell types by specifically treating cancer cells on the basis of specific binding properties of DNA and RNA. The nuclease activity of a CRISPR PLUS system, containing both an endonuclease and an exonuclease can be activated by means of the binding between crRNA and a gene specifically found in cancer cells. Therefore, the cancer treatment effect of the composition is more specific than that of other anti-cancer agents that have been developed up till now.

  • Publication number: 20210292722
Abstract: A novel CRISPR-associated protein and a use thereof are disclosed. A protein of the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO: 1 or SEQ ID NO: 3 exhibits the activity of endonucleases, which recognize and cleave an intracellular nucleic acid sequence linked to a guide RNA. Therefore, a novel CRISPR-associated protein can be used as a different nuclease for genome editing, in a CRISPR-Cas system.

  • Publication number: 20070142759
Abstract: A foot splint for the prevention and rehabilitation of plantar fasciitis by maintaining a wearer's foot and, hence, his plantar fascia in a pre-selected amount of dorsiflexion. The foot splint includes a footplate for supporting the wearer's foot, a bracket integrally attached to the footplate near the heel region, where the bracket has at least one ankle angle preset, a strut (either medial, lateral, or both sides) extending along the lower leg of the wearer, a strut sleeve removably enveloping the strut. The sleeve has an upper end and a lower end, and the strut protrudes from the lower end of the sleeves. There is an adjustable leg strap attached to the strut sleeve at the upper end. The strap secures the upper end to the leg of a wearer during operation. A padded insole may be provided to cushion the wearer's foot from the footplate. The foot splint provides a comfortable “slipper-like” feel for the wearer.

Abstract: A foot splint for the prevention and rehabilitation of plantar fasciitis by maintaining a wearer's foot and, hence, his plantar fascia, in a preselected amount of dorsiflexion. The foot splint includes a footplate for supporting the wearer's foot, a lateral strut extending along the lower leg of the wearer and having a strap for releaseably attaching the strut to the wearer's leg, and a wrap for wrapping around the foot of the wearer. A soft insole may be provided to cushion the wearer's foot from the footplate. The wrap, insole and footplate provide a comfortable “slipper-like” feel for the wearer. Moreover, the foot splint is particularly suited for use during sleep since it is light-weight and open configuration allows for the wearer to move unimpeded between sleep positions, resulting in a more restful sleep. Moreover, the lateral placement of the strut keeps the rigid portions of the foot splint from inadvertently abrading, striking, or otherwise interfering with the wearer's other leg.

  • Patent number: 6994681
Abstract: The invention is a disposable liner for an AFO/contracture foot splint that is sufficiently soft and flexible so as to comfortably conform to body surfaces and provide a substantially close fit to prevent leakage. The liner has a fluid permeable layer, an absorbent layer, and a moisture-proof layer which is a liquid impervious back sheet disposed on the outer surface of the liner. The liner has a toe end, a foot region, a leg end, a leg region and a heel region. The foot region has winged extensions terminated with fastening elements for securing the foot region. The leg end of the liner has tabular extensions terminated with re-closable fastening elements for securing the leg region of the disposable liner to the leg. The heel region of the liner has an opening, which enables a portion of the wearer's heel to project through the heel region into heel “well” of a splint.

  • Patent number: 6740056
Abstract: A universal carpal tunnel device for supporting the hand in a neutral position to alleviate and prevent the carpal tunnel syndrome. The device includes a pad for placement against a wearer, a base attached to the pad, a stay disposed between the pad and base, and an adjustment strap for attaching the device to the wearer. The pad or the base can be provided with a recessed channel for receiving the stay. The pad, base and stay form a palmar section of the device which extends over the heel of the hand and terminates prior to the palmar fold of the hand so to not unnecessarily restrict movement of the wearer's hand and digits, and a main section for engaging the forearm of the wearer. The palmar section also has a sufficient width for preventing opposition between the thumb and the fifth digit of the hand. The device laterally has first and second sides which are mirror images of each other so that the carpal tunnel device can be used on either the right or left hand.
