Abstract: An exhaust Venturi apparatus, system, and method includes an elongate housing for passage of exhaust gases, a Venturi mechanism disposed on the housing, the Venturi mechanism configured to create a low-pressure zone in the exhaust gases within the housing, and an aperture disposed in a side of the housing downstream of the Venturi mechanism, such that secondary air outside the housing is drawn into the exhaust stream. The aperture may comprise one or a plurality of apertures, small in cross-section compared to the housing cross-section, for minimizing sound emanating from the exhaust system. The Venturi mechanism may comprise a Venturi plate mounted between the housing and the engine.
Abstract: An apparatus, system, and method are disclosed for regenerating an exhaust gas treatment device. A controller module directs an injector to provide reductant to an exhaust gas treatment device over a plurality of rich intervals during a regeneration cycle. In addition, the controller module directs the injector to reduce the reductant provided to the exhaust gas treatment device over a lean interval between the rich intervals to create a lean environment within the exhaust gas treatment device. In one embodiment, the controller module modifies the reductant provided during each rich interval, the number of rich intervals, the length of the rich intervals, and the length of the lean intervals in response to an exhaust gas state.

Abstract: The invention provides a NOx adsorber aftertreatment system for internal combustion engines which utilizes at least one precat operatively coupled to at least one NOx adsorber to aid in the regeneration of the NOx adsorber. Fuel is injected into a precat located upstream of a NOx absorber producing heat, H2O, and reductants such as CO, HC, and volatile hydrocarbons, which are input into the NOx absorber. The combination of heat, water, and reductants help to efficiently regenerate the NOx Adsorber which in turn releases exhausts products such as CO2 and N2. Regeneration of a NOx adsorber can be performed during periods of reduced exhaust gas flow lowering the fuel penalty associated with NOx adsorber regeneration. The pre-cat, NOx adsorber regenerating aftertreatment system of the present invention may be used with any suitable control system.

Abstract: A centrifuge includes a housing that defines a fluid inlet port to supply fluid to the centrifuge and an axle cavity fluidly coupled to the fluid inlet port. A bearing is received in the axle cavity. A check valve is disposed in the axle cavity to minimize tampering, and the check valve is configured to control flow of the fluid from the inlet port. A rotor is configured to separate particulate matter from the fluid. The rotor includes an axle rotatably received in the bearing, and the axle defines a fluid passage to supply the fluid to the rotor. The check valve is normally biased towards a closed position where the flow of the fluid is shutoff. The axle is configured to open the check valve when the axle is received in the bearing.

Abstract: An apparatus, system, and method for measuring static pressure in a warm gas flow while minimizing particulate deposit formation includes a housing containing the flow of gas, a pressure sensor, and a heated pressure sampling tube attached to the sensor, with the tube sampling the gas flow. The heated sampling tube reduces the temperature gradient between the gas and the tube, reducing thermophoretic forces that contribute to deposit formation. The sampling tube extends through the housing into the gas flow in one embodiment, enabling the gas to heat the tube and locating the open end of the tube in a higher-flow area of the gas, further reducing deposit formation.
