Publication number: 20240328457Abstract: A hydrodynamic bearing for accommodating and supporting a rotating element includes an unloaded sliding surface, a loaded sliding surface downstream of the unloaded sliding surface, a first injection pocket arranged within the unloaded sliding surface and a second injection pocket arranged within the loaded sliding surface. A radial recess arranged within the unloaded sliding surface and the loaded sliding surface extends in a circumferential direction such as to overlap the first and second injection pockets in the circumferential direction upstream and downstream. The radial recess defines or delimits an active area of the unloaded and loaded sliding surfaces. Each of the first and second injection pockets has an axial length which is smaller than an axial extension of the active area upstream or downstream in a corresponding circumferential sliding section of the unloaded sliding surface and loaded sliding surface in which the first and second injection pockets respectively are arranged.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 10, 2022Publication date: October 3, 2024Applicant: Flender-Graffenstaden S.A.S.Inventors: Thomas Gaulier, Thomas MARMAGNE

Patent number: 10677286Abstract: A hydrodynamic bearing contains a body of which an inner surface forms a cavity arranged to accommodate and surround a rotary shaft. The cavity has a plurality of pads installed on the inner surface so as to support and guide the rotary shaft in rotation in a direction of rotation w from “upstream” to “downstream”. Each pad has an upper surface of which one portion, referred to as the “active surface”, acts as a sliding surface for the rotary shaft. The bearing having at least one pad included in an active angular sector of the bearing and at least one pad included in a passive angular sector of the bearing such that the active surface of each pad of the passive angular sector is lower than the active surface of each of the pads of the active angular sector.Type: GrantFiled: May 9, 2017Date of Patent: June 9, 2020Assignee: Flender-Graffenstaden S.A.S.Inventors: Thomas Gaulier, Pierre Hamy, Eric Jallat

Patent number: 10443651Abstract: A hydrodynamic bearing includes an annular inner surface surrounding a rotary shaft to support and guide rotation thereof about the longitudinal rotation axis thereof in an upstream to downstream rotation direction. The inner surface includes an orifice for supplying lubricant and first and second discharge recesses distributed on either side of the supply orifice according to the width of the bearing. The first discharge recess opens into a first side groove and the second discharge recess opens into a second side groove. The first and second side grooves extend along a portion of the circumference of the bearing on lateral sides of the inner surface of the bearing, from the respective first and second discharge recesses towards a third discharge recess located downstream of the two recesses, to direct the lubricant collected by the first and second discharge recesses towards the third recess to be discharged outside the bearing.Type: GrantFiled: September 22, 2016Date of Patent: October 15, 2019Assignee: Flender-Graffenstaden S.A.S.Inventors: Thomas Gaulier, Pierre Hamy, Eric Jallat
