  • Patent number: 11767649
Abstract: A traffic control marker having a base with a bottom surface suitable for attachment to a road surface using mechanical fasteners and/or adhesive. A top surface of the base includes rounded edges, and a bottom surface with an inset groove pattern. A flexible outer tube is engaged over an inner tube, where both tubes have a circular cross-sectional configuration. The telescoping tubes are captured within a clamping assembly that is securely and mechanically engaged within a support cavity formed in the base. The base with the support cavity enables enhanced attachment to the road surface, as well as improved drainage through the traffic control marker. The interconnection of the base, tubes and clamping assembly enables the tubes to breakaway from the base after numerous vehicle impacts, and to resist removal of the base from the road surface.

  • Patent number: 5509231
Abstract: A method for preventing the growth of vegetation around structures extending from the ground is disclosed. The method consists of providing a substantially flat, flexible mat of a polymeric material having a substantially uniform thickness. An aperture is provided in the mat so that the mat can be positioned around a structure extending from the ground. A slit may also be formed in the mat to facilitate the positioning of the mat around the structure. The mat has a substantial weight to prevent lifting of the mat from the surface around the structure without staking or securing the mat to the structure or ground. Because the mat has a low profile or thickness, mowers may be easily passed over the mat without damaging the mat or the mower.

  • Patent number: 5454665
Abstract: An artificial reef is formed for use in a body of water to provide a habitat for aquatic life. The reef is formed by providing an anchoring structure which is submerged in the body of water. The anchoring structure has a weight sufficient to anchor the artificial reef to the floor of the body of water. Spaced at intervals along the floor of the body of water and attached to the anchoring structure are a plurality of reef assemblies. Each of the reef assemblies is formed from a base which is secured to the anchoring structure. A flexible elastomeric sleeve is coupled to a lower end of a buoyant, elongated member formed from a substantially rigid polymeric material so that the elongated members are held in a general upright position. By providing a plurality of these reef assemblies, an artificial reef is formed.
