  • Patent number: 9228749
Abstract: A heating wire support meshing and a method of constructing a heated surface, particularly a floor surface therewith, is described. The heating wire support meshing comprises one or more mats formed by transversely spaced parallel rows of wire support bridge elements interconnected together at their crossings. The bridge elements have electric heating wire support slots to receive and guide one or more electric heating wires along one or more desired paths. Bottom support formations extend along a bottom planar surface of the mat. Top support formations lie in a top planar surface of the mat. The wire support slots are adapted to support the one or more electric heating wires spaced below the top support formations. The support meshing also acts as a reinforcement of a sub-floor on which the support meshing is installed.

  • Patent number: 8695943
Abstract: A tool for installing a heating wire in a floor substrate of the type having receiving means opened toward a surface thereof to receive a heating wire comprises a support with a handle portion to be manually handled by a user. A contact surface is related to the support, the contact surface adapted to contact the floor or floor substrate during displacement of the tool along the floor substrate. An interface is between the handle portion and a heating wire. The interface is adapted to contact the heating wire such that a given pressure applied on the handle portion by the user during the displacement of the tool along the floor substrate is converted by the interface into local engagement of the heating wire in at least one of the receiving means. A method for installing the heating wire using the tool is also provided.

  • Publication number: 20140097169
Abstract: A floor heating system is comprised of one or more heating wire flexible support meshing secured to a flexible and stretchable anti-fracture membrane formed of a material having elastic properties. The anti-fracture membrane is adapted to be secured to a surface of a sub-floor. The anti-fracture membrane also has a core thickness sufficient whereby the elastic properties of the core will stretch to absorb displacement in the lower surface thereof which is secured to the sub-floor to prevent transfer of the displacement to the heating wire support members equipped with heating wires and having a cementitious material set thereon.

  • Patent number: 8455795
Abstract: A surface heating system and method of heating a surface in which there are two or more heating cables adapted to be embedded in a cementitious material and using a single feed cold lead wire is described. One or more heating cables are provided to define one or more heating circuits. The heating cables have electrically conductive wires. A cold lead connector is secured to the electrically conductive wires at an end of the one or more heating cables. A feed cold lead wire is secured at one end to a thermostat to which is connectable an electrical supply source, and at a second end to the cold lead connector of the one or more heating cables.

  • Patent number: 7678994
Abstract: An encapsulating permanent wire connector is comprised of a housing provided with a first port and a second port. At least one division wall extends coaxially in a portion of the housing to a side of a straight central axis of the housing and defines an electrically isolating cavity in the housing. The housing has an opening to inject a sealing substance therein. Air evacuation holes are associated with the electrically isolating cavity for the escape of air therefrom when a sealing substance is injected within the housing with soldered wire connections being disposed in the housing and isolated from one another by the electrically isolating cavity. In a preferred embodiment, there are two spaced-apart electrically isolating cavities with a central cavity therebetween.

  • Patent number: 7250570
Abstract: A heating cable guide strip for retaining and guiding a resistance heating cable in a serpentine path on a sub-floor adapted to receive a cementitious material to form a radiant heated floor is described. The method of use is also described. The heating cable guide strip is molded of plastics material and defines an elongated flat base having a plurality of spaced-apart wire retaining guide members. The retaining guide members have at least a curved section for guiding the heating cable along a curved path about one or more of the guide members. The guide members further have a flexible cable retention flange to permit the positioning and retention of the cable captive between opposed ones of the retaining guide members. The heating cable guide strip is attached to the sub-floor by glue, nails or screws.
