Abstract: A system for utilizing preferences and demographic information obtained from data sources to curate venues is disclosed. In particular, the system may determine a user's location through a variety of techniques and then utilize the user's location to determine localities within a first threshold distance of the user's location. The system filters the localities based on the preferences and demographic information, and then cause the filtered results to be displayed with the preferences and demographic information. If the user is within a second threshold distance of a locality in the filtered results, the system provides an option to electronically check into the locality. Once the user is checked in, the preferences and demographic information for the user is averaged with corresponding information for other users for the locality. When a subsequent user views the same locality in his own search results, the averaged information is provided to the subsequent user.
