Patent number: 8506284Abstract: A method of cooling a load provided in a load compartment in a furnace chamber of a furnace of a hot isostatic pressing device includes releasing hot pressure medium from the load compartment. Cool pressure medium is provided for enabling it to fall through the released hot pressure medium outside the load compartment. The thus obtained mixed pressure medium is led into the load compartment. A hot isostatic pressing device includes a load compartment having an aperture near an upper portion thereof configured to vent warm pressure medium into a region surrounding the compartment and a conduit configured to introduce cool pressure medium into the region surrounding the compartment for mixing with the warm medium. The compartment also includes an aperture near a lower portion thereof configured to receive a mix of warm and cool pressure medium from the region surrounding the compartment.Type: GrantFiled: January 27, 2010Date of Patent: August 13, 2013Assignee: Flow Holdings GmbH (SAGL) Limited Liability CompanyInventor: Carl Bergman

Patent number: 7320211Abstract: The invention relates to a press of pressure cell type, which comprises a press chamber in which a diaphragm device is arranged. The diaphragm device includes a diaphragm which together with a press plate forms a pressure cell and is adapted to exert a forming pressure on a workpiece in the press chamber. The edge area of the diaphragm is placed in an annular diaphragm support. The press of pressure cell type also comprises actuating means which are adapted to actively exert a force on the diaphragm support in the direction of the press plate, the diaphragm support pressing the edge area of the diaphragm against the press plate so that an initial seal is provided between the diaphragm at its edge area and the press plate, which seal is built up when supplying pressure medium to the pressure cell by expansion of the diaphragm. The invention also relates to a diaphragm device, a method for applying a pressing power and a method for exchanging a diaphragm in a press of pressure cell type.Type: GrantFiled: March 31, 2006Date of Patent: January 22, 2008Assignee: Flow Holdings GmbH (SAGL) Limited Liability CompanyInventor: Keijo Hellgren

Publication number: 20060180036Abstract: The present invention relates to an isostatic press for high pressure treatment of a product having a temperature below 0° C., said isostatic press comprising a pressure chamber adapted to contain a first pressure medium, and a container which is placeable in the pressure chamber. The container which is placeable in the isostatic press is adapted to hold the product and a second pressure medium, the container being closable to keep the first pressure medium separated from fluid communication with the second pressure medium. The container is further provided with a pressure transfer means device adapted to transfer pressure from the first pressure medium to the second pressure medium, and a body which is made of a material with low adiabatic heat emission relative to adjoining substances, so that the body from adjoining substances absorbs heat, which is generated by adiabatic temperature rise during the high pressure treatment.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 19, 2004Publication date: August 17, 2006Applicant: Flow Holdings GmbH (SAGL) Limited Liability CompanyInventor: Nils-Gunnar Lonneborg

Publication number: 20060086166Abstract: The invention relates to a forming tool for forming sheet blanks in a diaphragm press of the kind comprising an openable, closed pressure chamber, which is divided in a gas and liquid tight manner by means of a flexible diaphragm. The forming tool is arranged on one side of the diaphragm and a sheet blank to be formed is arranged between the forming tool and the diaphragm. The opposite side of the diaphragm is pressurized by a fluid being supplied at high pressure to cause the flexible diaphragm to deform and, thus, the sheet blank to be pressed against the forming tool. The forming tool comprises an elongate cutting and flanging tool along at least part of its periphery and/or around an intended opening in the sheet blank.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 2, 2003Publication date: April 27, 2006Applicant: Flow Holding GmbH (SAGL) Limited Liability CompanyInventor: Keijo Hellgren

Patent number: 6966345Abstract: A method for durability treatment or sterilization of a pumpable material by high pressure treatment of the same in a high pressure press for killing and/or inactivating harmful microorganisms and enzymes in the material includes placing the pumpable material into a flexible bulk container with a larger volume than the end-user or consumer containers in which the material is intended to be packed, placing the bulk container in a high pressure press and subjected to high pressure treatment, removing the bulk container from the press. The material may be moved from the bulk container to end-user containers by arranging, in a sterile manner provided, connector on the bulk container, which, via a tube connects the interior of the bulk container with an emptying system, for the purpose of draining the pumpable material into the end-user or consumer containers, or into an intermediate storage tank.Type: GrantFiled: May 1, 2003Date of Patent: November 22, 2005Assignee: Flow Holdings GmbH (SAGL) Limited Liability CompanyInventors: Nils-Gunnar Lönneborg, Jan Hjelmqwist, Ulf Odebo

Patent number: 6895856Abstract: A method to provide a high pressure press with a replaceable wear liner. The wear liner is first inserted into the cylindrical pressure chamber of the press and the pre-stressed by the application of an excess pressure above the yield point. The excess pressure is sufficient to increase the diameter of the wear liner and produce a residual radial compressive stress that holds the wear liner in place. When the wear liner is removed from the press it is dismantled. The advantage of the invention is that the replaceable wear liner, and a high pressure press comprising it, may be relatively inexpensive to produce and the replaceable wear liner may be quickly and simply replaced.Type: GrantFiled: June 4, 1999Date of Patent: May 24, 2005Assignee: Flow Holdings GmbH (SAGL) Limited Liability CompanyInventor: Nils-Gunnar Lönneborg

Publication number: 20040118868Abstract: The invention relates to a method for durability treatment or sterilisation of a pumpable material by high pressure treatment of the same in a high pressure press for killing and/or inactivating harmful microorganisms and enzymes in the material. In the method, the pumpable material is filled into a flexible bulk container (1) with a larger volume than the end-user or consumer containers in which the material is intended to be packed. Then the bulk container is placed in a high pressure press and subjected to high pressure treatment at a pressure of at least 2000 bar. After completed high pressure treatment, the bulk container is removed from the press.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 1, 2003Publication date: June 24, 2004Applicant: Flow Holdings GmbH (SAGL) Limited Liability CompanyInventors: Nils-Gunnar Lonneborg, Jan Hjelmqwist, Ulf Odebo

Patent number: 6558589Abstract: A device for molding objects includes a mold having a molding space enclosed therein and adapted to be filled by a fluid mold material intended to solidify therein. The fluid mold material is injected under pressure into the molding space and solidifies under this high pressure. A chamber receives the mold and is filled with a medium. The medium filling the chamber and surrounding the mold is pressurized. The pressurized medium acts upon the mold from all directions with at least the same pressure magnitude as the pressure of the mold material within the mold. Therefore, the mold is isostatically balanced by the forces acting upon the mold by the mold material and the medium.Type: GrantFiled: July 10, 2000Date of Patent: May 6, 2003Assignee: Flow Holdings GmbH (SAGL) Limited Liability CompanyInventor: Carl Bergman
