Abstract: A closed, cross-flow fluid filter assembly having a pressurized input line for polluted fluids entering into a closed header box. The closed header box fits within a filter tank and is provided with apertures and spacer assemblies on the bottom wall thereof communicating with the filter tank, the apertures providing the pressurized fluid thereto. Filter leaf assemblies are arranged in parallel within the filter tank and are maintained at their top edges in spaced relation by the spacer assemblies. The filter leaf assemblies are composed of abutting offset grids, contained within a fluid tight frame which is covered on each side by a filter media. The filter leafs are drained of filtrate through a medial tube connected to a central manifold which is connected to a vacuum source. Flow-through backwash stop-grids are arranged in the filter tank to prevent excessive bulging of the filter membranes during backwash for cleaning of the filter media.

Abstract: Sound muffling devices for marine engines for installation on the external portion of the transom of a marine vessel are attached in such a manner that any breakdown within the silencer causes no discharge of exhaust gases or cooling fluids into the interior of the vessel and the gases and cooling fluid continue to be discharged overboard. The silencer is designed to reduce, substantially, the noise level emitted by the engine under operation by the efficient mixture of gases and water through a series of baffles, with low resistance to gas flow that does not diminish engine efficiency. The gases and odors are emitted from the vessel at the centerline with distance and direction such as to reduce, substantially, emissions into the air environment. The device receives exhaust gas and cooling water from an exhaust pipe passing through the transom at the side of the boat and directs the gas athwart the boat to the center where it is exhausted.

Abstract: A single stacked cam bearing surface is used to actuate several cam followers in such manner that the cam bearing surface can move past one or more cam followers without actuation thereof but can be caused to stop at and actuate any desired cam follower. A stacked disc cam bearing surface of the improved cam actuator assembly of the present invention includes rotatable cam sub-assembly discs each having a surface well. The plurality of cam followers that bear against the bearing surface are selectively actuated by a controlled positioning of the cam sub-assembly discs that radially aligns the wells of the bearing surface with a selected cam follower. During a controlled rotation of the cam assemblies through an angular position of an intermediate cam follower, the wells of the sub-assembly discs of the cam bearing surface are radially mis-aliged, and thereby fail to actuate the cam follower during rotation through an intermediate angular position.

Abstract: A fluid flow control device includes a first fluid flow passageway, a fluid inlet into the first passageway, a fluid outlet from the first passageway, a second fluid flow passageway in flow communication with the first passageway, and a fluid flow-through opening in fluid flow communication with the second passageway. The fluid flow control device is controlled to selectively provide, alternatively, a vacuum or a pressure condition at the flow-through opening. A pneumatic transfer system is also disclosed for alternately transferring a batch of particulate material from a storage area to a batching vessel, and for transferring the particulate material from the batching vessel to a remote location. The system includes a single blower having its high pressure side in flow communication with the fluid flow control device for selectively providing both vacuum and pressure conditions in the batching vessel to effect the selected transferring of particulate material into and out of the batching vessel.
