    Abstract: A method and apparatus for power management of a wireless access point associated with a host device. The wireless access point is instructed to transition from a sleep mode to an active mode. The wireless access point then returns to the sleep mode, independent of any instruction from the host device, if no probe request has been received from an authorized client in a predetermined interval of time.
