Patent number: 12055138Abstract: A syringe pump for aspirating and dispensing fluids is provided. The syringe pump includes a pump casing having an inlet port and an outlet port, a ceramic piston liner received within the pump casing and a ceramic piston. The liner has an internal bore formed by a cylindrical wall, wherein the cylindrical wall further defines a fluid path between the inlet port and the outlet port of the pump casing. The piston is axially movable within the bore of the piston to urge a flow of fluid between said inlet port and said outlet port via said fluid path.Type: GrantFiled: December 9, 2020Date of Patent: August 6, 2024Assignee: Fluid Metering, Inc.Inventor: David Lionel Rawlings

Patent number: 11585340Abstract: A multi-channel positive displacement piston pump apparatus includes a motor and a plurality of positive displacement piston pumps driven by the motor. The plurality of pumps are aligned in a stacking direction, and each pump has an intake port and an outlet port, wherein the intake ports and the outlet ports of all pumps face in the same direction generally perpendicular to the stacking direction. In a method for retrofitting a positive displacement piston pump for use in a multi-channel pumping apparatus, an outlet port of a pump housing of the pump and a flush outlet port of the pump housing are plugged and an alternative fluid path is formed within the pump housing. The outlet port is disposed in line with an inlet port of the pump housing but on an opposite side of the pump housing. The flush outlet port is disposed in line with a flush inlet port of the pump housing but on an opposite side of the pump housing.Type: GrantFiled: February 1, 2019Date of Patent: February 21, 2023Assignee: Fluid Metering, Inc.Inventors: David Lionel Rawlings, Francis Dongil Suh, Zachary James Beauman

Publication number: 20140017103Abstract: A pumping apparatus for pumping a liquid from a source to a target including a motor and pump driven by the motor. Sacrificial zinc components are utilized to minimize corrosion due to chlorine vapors. Measures to ensure that liquid is pumped in only one direction include the use of a full wave rectifier and/or a spacer incorporated with a swivel platform to limits the range of the angle between the motor shaft and the pump piston. To minimize the risk of rupturing the pump, the pump piston includes a relieved portion in fluid communication with a transverse bore of the pump housing when the piston is axially inserted within the pump housing in its full forward position. To prevent overheating and damage to the pump components, the pumping apparatus makes use of a positive temperature coefficient (PTC) resistor interposed between the motor and a current source.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 18, 2013Publication date: January 16, 2014Applicant: Fluid Metering, Inc.Inventor: David Rawlings

Patent number: 7785084Abstract: A pumping apparatus for pumping a liquid from a source to a target includes a pump having a pump housing and a pump piston. The pump housing defines a central longitudinal bore, a transverse bore communicating with the central bore for conveying a liquid through the pump housing and a liquid reservoir communicating with the central bore and the transverse bore for retaining an amount of the liquid conveyed through the transverse bore. The pump piston is axially and rotatably slidable within the central longitudinal bore for pumping the liquid through the transverse bore.Type: GrantFiled: April 28, 2006Date of Patent: August 31, 2010Assignee: Fluid Metering, Inc.Inventors: David Rawlings, Harry E. Patent number: 7387502Abstract: A pumping apparatus for pumping a liquid from a source to a target including a motor, a first pump driven by the motor, a second pump driven by the motor and a separator in fluid communication with the first and second pump for separating a liquid received from a source into a gaseous component and a liquid component. The separator further diverts the gaseous component to the first pump and the liquid component to the second pump, wherein the first pump pumps the gaseous component back to the source and the second pump pumps the liquid component to a target.Type: GrantFiled: September 14, 2005Date of Patent: June 17, 2008Assignee: Fluid Metering, Inc.Inventors: David Rawlings, Harry E.
