  • Patent number: 6203282
Abstract: A method to control stops of an intermittently operating electric motor that drives a submersible pump arranged in a pump station for sewage water, wherein starts and stops of the motor depend on the water level in the pump station or on any other electric parameter possible to measure, and where a stop of the motor is initiated when the water level has gone down to the upper part of the motor. The method involves the steps of selecting intervals for pumping down to a level below that of the upper part of the motor where the pump starts sucking air, and pumping down to the lower level at each of the selected intervals until the pump starts sucking air.

  • Patent number: 5601111
Abstract: A valve housing has a chamber formed therewithin, and an inlet and an outlet for accommodating fluid flow through the chamber along a given flow path. The housing further confines a free ball therein, and hydraulic-fluid filed compartments with flexible walls. Intermediate the inlet and outlet, the housing has a valve seat formed. Fluid pressure in the chamber causes one compartment to collapse and the flexible wall of the other to expand. The expanding wall, and capturing fluid flow, moves the ball to the seat to halt flow through the chamber, after an initial period of free flow. The method comprises providing the chambered housing, disposing the ball in the chamber, communicating the inlet with a pump outlet, and confining the flexible-walled compartments in the chamber.

  • Patent number: 5577886
Abstract: The inlet part of the pump housing includes a collar which concentrically surrounds a corresponding opposite collar formed part of the pump impeller inlet, thus permitting any possible leakage flow to be in parallel with the main flow into the impeller and minimizing the disturbance in the main flow. In order to minimize the leakage flow, an O-ring is arranged in front of the opening to a slot between the parts.

  • Patent number: 5542817
Abstract: Notches in the impeller cooperate with balancing holes therein, and a liquid-receiving slot, to direct liquid across the leading edges of impeller vanes to flush away any accreted substances therefrom. In addition, a large diameter deflector coupled to the hub of the impeller also cooperates with the notches to deflect the flushing liquid in the direction of the main liquid flow through the impeller.

  • Patent number: 5522631
Abstract: A length of non-corroding, filamentary material penetrates a lifting bail of the submersible equipment, and one end of the material is coupled to a hook, while the opposite end is pulled to cause the hook to snare the bail. The hook is held in suspension, but moved into proximity to the bail to enable the material to be drawn through the bail, and to cause the hook to engage the bail for sub sequent lifting of the equipment.

  • Patent number: 5486092
Abstract: Upper and lower housing portions combine to define a fluid-working area within the housing, and the portions are dissimilar. The lower housing portion is substantially circular, having a constant radius, whereas the upper housing portion is volute-shaped, having an increasingly extending radius and a continuously growing depth, in the direction of the outlet. Correspondingly, the lower housing portion has a continuously diminishing depth, in the direction of the outlet.

  • Patent number: 5477018
Abstract: One end of a dual-ended housing is closed off by a plug formed of a first constituent which is a water-soluble material and a second constituent which is a thermosetting resin and forms a readily-frangible structure in the plug. An electrical switch which has an actuating plunger is set, in the housing against the plug, so that the latter holds the plunger depressed/retracted. Moisture expands the water-soluble material which, in turn, destroys the plug integrity and, subsequently, the plug is so weakened that the plunger breaks through the frangible structure to actuate the switch.

  • Patent number: 5435664
Abstract: The tank has vertical walls joined to a horizontal bottom with a diagonal wall bridging between an intermediate portion of one of the vertical walls and the bottom. The diagonal wall has an access opening formed therein, and it cooperates with the one vertical wall and the bottom to form a sheltering recess, in the tank, for pumping station components. The pumping station has the relevant components emplaced in the tank, and sewage water admitting and discharging facility, with a submersible pump and water-handling piping. Station components, and portions thereof, are sheltered in the recess of the tank, to accommodate an optimum water flow in the tank, and to minimize an entanglement of solid objects with the components.

  • Patent number: 5352088
Abstract: The invention concerns a device for pump housings for centrifugal pumps for pumping of polluted liquids. In order to decrease the influence of radial force acting upon the impeller during operation, a partition wall (5) is arranged along a part of the turn in that part of the spiral formed pump housing that has the biggest diameter. In order to decrease the risk that pollutions will stick to the wall (5), it is split up into two parts (6) and (7) with an intermediate, longitudinal slot (10). The leading edges of said parts (6) and (7) are swept backwards into the slot (10).

  • Patent number: 5281088
Abstract: Atop the impeller are ancillary vanes, the same provided for pumping cooling liquid to the centrifugal pump motor cooling system. The liquid is conveyed through a narrow slot, vertically, which obtains between an annulus of the pump housing and an impeller extension. Grooves, contiguous with inner tips of the ancillary vanes, and formed in the extension, widen the slot, cyclically, coincident with rotation of the impeller, and hasten deaeration of air bubbles which exist, at start-up, between the impeller and the pump housing.
