Patents Assigned to Foamex Innovations Operating Company
  • Patent number: 8209804
Abstract: A customizable mattress topper system includes a first mattress topper of viscoelastic foam with a shaped top surface and a second foam mattress topper. The viscoelastic foam topper has a higher density than the second topper. The first mattress topper and second mattress topper are packaged and sold together as a system. The first mattress topper may be placed over the second mattress topper, or vice versa, and in various orientations over a bedding mattress as desired by a consumer to customize the level of cushioning support.

  • Publication number: 20110209288
Abstract: A mattress converts from a crib mattress with side walls and end walls surrounding an infant sleeping surface on a central mattress section therebetween to a twin mattress with a substantially planar sleeping surface to support a reclining child or adult. The end walls and side walls are tethered or hingedly connected to the central mattress section and are moveable from an upright position (crib mattress) to an open position (twin mattress). Sidewall extensions are hingedly connected to the side walls and are pivotably moveable from a first position above the side walls to a second position axially aligned with the side walls when the side walls are in the open position.

  • Publication number: 20110212206
Abstract: Apparatus and methods for cutting compressible cellular polymers such as polyurethane foam, are characterized by a first die roller and a pressure roller, wherein both rollers define raised portions separated by recesses or depressions, and the raised portions on the first die roller register with the recesses of the pressure roller at a nip formed between the rollers. Portions of the polymer material extruded into the spaces between the raised portions of the first die roller are cut away, such that the cut product conforms substantially to the surface geometry of the first die roller, and the depth of cut is greater than with prior rotary cutting methods.

  • Patent number: 7950188
Abstract: A gutter protector formed of a flexible open cell porous foam has at least one undulated bottom surface. The undulations of the bottom surface may be ridges defining generally parallel channels to direct water through the gutter passageway. Optionally, undulations may be provided on one side surface. Such undulations on the side surface may be ridges or other convolute cut projections that are compressible and help to secure the gutter protector under compression within the gutter passageway.

  • Publication number: 20110047887
Abstract: A gutter insert formed of a flexible open cell porous foam has five or more sides and forms an inverted ā€œVā€ or check-mark shape. Four gutter inserts may be cut from one column of foam material, thereby reducing foam waste. The four gutter inserts may be shipped nested together in columnar form, and separated at the jobsite just before installation.

  • Patent number: 7886388
Abstract: A mattress constructed with multiple foam layers joined together provides reclining support with pressure redistribution for heavy weight persons, particularly those weighing over 350 pounds. The mattress includes: a core layer having a substantially planar top surface and at least two spaced apart regions in a bottom surface from which foam material has been extracted to leave cavities separated by an interconnected network of foam walls, a top layer of viscoelastic foam with an air permeability above 60 ft3/ft2/min, and a bottom layer of stiffer supporting foam. The open cavities of the core layer are directed away from the body supporting top surface of the mattress.

  • Patent number: 7687139
Abstract: A hydrophilic ester polyurethane foam is flame laminated to a substrate using a thin sacrificial layer, preferably a sacrificial foam layer. The sacrificial layer in the resulting laminate structure has a thickness of 1.5 mm or less, and preferably is substantially burnt away. The resulting laminate exhibits good bond strength along its length and width without loss of liquid wicking and absorptive properties.
