Patent number: 12610208Abstract: The invention relates to a system for generating sound waves for at least two separate zones of a single space. The system includes, for each zone of said space: at least one array of high-frequency loudspeakers forming a directional sound wave; and at least one low-frequency loudspeaker. The system also comprises means for audio processing of the signals transmitted to the loudspeakers, which means control at least one loudspeaker to generate destructive sound waves in at least one zone of said space and to obtain distinct sound contents in said at least two distinct zones of said space. To do this, the audio-processing means control each low-frequency loudspeaker individually and each array of high-frequency loudspeaker mutually in order to generate the destructive sound waves.Type: GrantFiled: October 4, 2022Date of Patent: April 21, 2026Assignees: The Trustees of Princeton University, FOCAL JMLABInventors: Edgar Choueiri, Rahulram Sridhar, Joseph G Tylka, Léo Guadagnin

Patent number: 12526563Abstract: A device for processing an input signal for a loudspeaker is disclosed. The device includes a processing line with modules for estimating expected loudspeaker movements and generating an adaptive control signal by solving coupled differential equations representing both the loudspeaker and its acoustic environment. At least one transmission line provides a non-adaptive control signal from the input signal. An adder combines the adaptive and non-adaptive control signals to form the output signal. The device may use real-time feedback of loudspeaker parameters, such as voltage and current, to update the model dynamically. This approach reduces sound distortion while preserving user control over volume, making it especially suitable for compact or acoustically constrained environments, such as vehicle doors. The invention further relates to audio systems, loudspeakers, acoustic resonators, and vehicle doors incorporating such processing devices.Type: GrantFiled: October 12, 2021Date of Patent: January 13, 2026Assignee: FOCAL JMLABInventor: Alexis Potron
