Abstract: A vehicle construction includes a body with a base, a roof, two longitudinal walls joining the base and the roof and at least four wheels connected to the base, which base, roof and longitudinal walls comprise sandwich panels which are jointed to one another at their longitudinal edges. The thickness of the sandwich panel forming the base is of the same order of magnitude as the thickness of the roof or sandwich panel forming a longitudinal wall and the sandwich panels of base, roof and longitudinal walls form a bending- and torsion-resistant tube.

Abstract: Method for connection of thermoplastic inserts in structural sandwich panels. This connection is realized by ultrasonic welding. According to the invention the insert is introduced in a through opening in a sandwich panel and welded to the opposed outer skins. Welding is realized by engagement of the insert by a welding apparatus at its frontal ends.

Abstract: The invention relates to a housing for electrical and/or electronic apparatus, which protects the apparatus against leakage to the outside of information-carrying, electrical and/or magnetic fields and electromagnetic radiation generated by the apparatus, the housing also protects against crosstalk between information-carrying conductors and/or conducting parts, and against undesired influencing of the apparatus by electrical and/or magnetic fields and electromagnetic radiation of external origin.

Abstract: Joining system for joining wall panels to form a box-like housing, which panels are composed of rectangular flat plates having a core of electrically non-conducting material and having two principal surfaces situated opposite each other and covered by a layer of electrically conducting material. In the peripheral surfaces a groove extends parallel to the said principal surfaces. The groove walls are embodied such that the two principal surfaces of each plate each terminate in a wedge-shaped peripheral portion along the edges. The panels have to be joined to each other in tows by means of two L-shaped sections of electrically conducting material of which the ends of both legs are provided with a groove whose cross-sectional shape is matched to the shape of the wedge-shaped peripheral portions.

Abstract: Armour plate with multi-layer structure, comprising on the front side a first layer of ceramic material made up of abutting tiles, on the rear side a second layer of fibre-reinforced plastic laminate, and between these layers a third layer consisting of several mutually bonded metal plates. The first layer is fixedly connected to the respective outer plate of the third layer by means of a strong adhesive bonded joint. The metal plates of the third layer as well as the second layer are joined together either by means of an adhesive bonded joint the strength of which is sufficient to hold the structure together when the armour plate is unstressed, but under stress when a missile hits the armour plate, will easily come loose at the point of impact, or by other means. The bond between the metal plates of the third layer as well as between the second and third layer extends either over the whole surface or only part thereof for instance only at the edges of the armour plate.
