  • Patent number: 5200988
Abstract: A telecommunications device adapted to be positioned between the sending telephone and the line connection thereof or attachable with respect to a sending telephone by way of an audio coupling wherein the DTMF (Digital Tone Multiple Frequency) keypad of the Touch-Tone telephone is utilized to spell words on a visual display device of the communications device which can be used in combination with a packet network telecommunications system having access nodes with word guessing capability wherein the word is spelled letter-by-letter and is compared against a dictionary of words having the DTMF keypad code. The code is displayed on the screen initially with the word then being telecommunicated to a remote electronic database dictionary which guesses the most frequently used word and displays it on the display screen of the hand held device.

  • Patent number: 5031206
Abstract: The identity of a word entered on DTMF (Dual Tone Multi-Frequency) pushbuttons is determined by identifying letters according to their frequency in groups of 2s and 3s and up to n-letter groups. Initially, a sender will type a word on a DTMF pushbutton pad. Since each button represents three (3) possible letters, or four in the case of 7 (PQRS) and 9 (WXYZ), the system will look up the possible meanings for the word from an internal memory which includes a dictionary. If the word does not exist in the dictionary, then the system will search against a Forward and a Reverse Dictionary to guess at the identity of fragments from the beginning and ending of the word. Then it will guess the identity of each letter according to its relative frequency in groups of 3s known as Trigrams, or in groups of 2s known as Digrams. The Trigams are preferably arranged in five (5) files to identify the first, second, third and final letters of a word as well as any non-specified middle location.

  • Patent number: 4846594
Abstract: Apparatus for printing of mailing inserts prepackaged within envelopes and for printing of the envelopes also as desired simultaneously wherein specifically both sides of one or more inserts can be printed as desired by one pass through a computer controlled printer. Printing can be controlled for both sides of any inserts as well as the obverse or reverse surface of the front and back sheets which form the envelope. Inking means preferably in the form of carbon layers are carried at selected locations along the obverse and reverse surfaces of all inserts and each envelope sheet in such a manner as to allow impact printing on desired surfaces. The impact printer has the capability of printing both forward or conventional characters and reverse characters which are rotated about a vertically extending axis to facilitate printing on the reverse surfaces of insert sheets and envelope sheets.
