Abstract: A power steering system including a sensor arranged or located in the steering system. The sensor detects an acoustic vibration or an acceleration signal in the steering system during a change in the steering angle and generates a sensor signal representing the vibration or the acceleration signal. A control unit receives the sensor signal and compares the sensor signal with a threshold value to detect a fault state; for example when the sensor signal is larger than the threshold value.

Abstract: The present invention provides continuous methods of making ready to use aqueous soy binders comprising extruding in a twin screw extruder wet non-water soluble soy flour in grind phase mixing and, downstream, including further a polycarboxy emulsion copolymer in distributive phase mixing, wherein in the aqueous binders the amount of soy flour solids ranges from 51 to 95 wt. %, based on the total weight of binder solids. The present invention provides continuous and simple methods for providing aqueous binders wherein the soy flour has a sieve particle size ranging from 5 to 44 ?m. Making soy flours of such a particle size enables soy flour binder compositions useful as binders for non-wovens, such as mineral fiber or glass mats.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a reactive formulation used to make a flame resistant flexible polyurethane foam which is particularly suited for use in under the hood vehicle applications which require sound deadening and vibration management and a process to make said foam. Said foam is particularly suitable for such applications because desirable flame resistant properties are achieved after exposure to heat over an extended period of time.
Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for operating an engine having a hydrocarbon retaining system and an emission control device coupled to an engine exhaust, the engine exhaust comprising a venturi. One example method comprises, during a storing condition, routing exhaust gas through the venturi without generating a venturi action, and then to the hydrocarbon retaining system, while bypassing the emission control device, to store hydrocarbons in the hydrocarbon retaining system, and during a purging condition, routing exhaust gas through the venturi while generating venturi action, then to the emission control device, and then to the hydrocarbon retaining system, to purge stored hydrocarbons, wherein a flow of purged hydrocarbons is drawn back to the venturi via venturi action.

Abstract: A method of roughening metal surfaces of a workpiece such as a cylinder bore of an internal combustion engine to improve the adhesion of layers thermally sprayed thereon. Uniform grooves are formed in the surface and ridges are arranged between the grooves. The grooves may be formed by a process such as turning, drilling, milling or rolling. The ridges are plastically deformed in order to form undercuts in the grooves, with the degree of plastic deformation of the ridges varying regularly in the longitudinal direction of the grooves. Local deformations are produced in the ridge, and these bring about regular undercuts in the groove. This makes it possible to produce the undercuts in identical dimensions with little effort. Furthermore, since the groove is now not completely constricted by undercuts, it can be filled more effectively with spraying material.

Abstract: A water redispersible polymer powder may be produced by drying an aqueous mixture of a water insoluble film-forming polymer and a colloidal stabilizer comprising a chelating agent to obtain a water redispersible polymer powder, where the amount of chelating agent is at least 0.1% by weight, preferably at least 1% by weight, most preferably at least 3% by weight, based upon the weight of the water insoluble film-forming polymer. Dispersions or polymer compositions containing a chelating agent as a colloidal stabilizer exhibit an unexpectedly low viscosity which facilitates spray drying and permits use of high solids content dispersions with low pressure spray drying to increase production efficiency. The chelating agents are stable at high pH and so high pH spray dryable compositions containing them as a colloidal stabilizer may sit or be stored for prolonged periods of time prior to spray drying without loss of effectiveness of the colloidal stabilizer.

Abstract: A yaw stability control system for a vehicle detects and eliminates the vehicle yaw angle resulting from a body-force-disturbance and returns the vehicle to a pre disturbance heading. A yaw rate module generates a signal indicative of the vehicle yaw rate error. A yaw angle error module is triggered in response to a body-force-disturbance being detected by a body-force-disturbance detection unit, and performs integrations of the yaw rate signals to calculate a yaw angle error in order to obtain a correction of the vehicle yaw angle resulting from the body-force-disturbance. A yaw control module uses the yaw angle error in combination with the yaw rate error for a limited time period to generate yaw control signals that are sent to the vehicle brakes and/or active steering system for performing vehicle yaw stability control operations a signal to perform a body-force-disturbance yaw stability control operation for.
