  • Patent number: 7618913
Abstract: A high activity magnesium-based supported catalyst component useful in a catalyst system for the compolymerization of ethylene and alpha-olefin and a process for preparing the catalyst component is described. In the process, alkoxysilane ester is contacted with a halogen-substituted silane to form an organic silicon complex. Optionally, the organic silicon complex is contacted with an aminosilane compound to form an organic silicon complex containing nitrogen. The organic silicon complex containing nitrogen or the organic silicon complex is contacted with a transition metal compound to form an organic silicon complex containing transition metal. The organic silicon complex containing transition metal is then contacted with a substituted aromatic ring nitrogen compound to form a fourth reaction complex, which is then contacted with a magnesium-based composite support that has been prepared in situ by reacting metallic magnesium with an alkyl or aromatic halide to form the catalyst component.

  • Patent number: 7307036
Abstract: A highly active alpha-olefin polymerization catalyst component is disclosed. In the presence of a co-catalyst, the catalyst component is useful for the production of LLDPE resins. The catalyst component is produced by a method whereby organic silicon compounds are reacted with a transition metal complex and active transition metal species is deposited on a silicon-containing MgCl2 that is prepared in situ in the presence of the organic silicon compounds.

  • Patent number: 7211534
Abstract: A magnesium halide support material for a polyolefin catalysts is disclosed. The magnesium halide of present invention is prepared by reacting magnesium with an alkylhalide in a non-polar hydrocarbon solvent. Preparation of the support does not require the use electron donating solvents and therefore does not require extensive washing to remove the solvent from the support.

  • Patent number: 6992034
Abstract: A solid catalyst component useful for the (co)-polymerization of olefins is disclosed. The catalyst component is prepared by reacting an activated magnesium halide composite support with a halogenized transition metal compound and a chelating diamide compound in the presence of organo-magnesium as a promoting agent and halogenized silicon or boron compounds as an activator. The catalyst component can be used with an organo-aluminum compound to provide a solid catalyst system that is compatible with slurry and gas phase polymerization processes. Linear low density polyethylene (LLDPE) produced using the catalyst component of the present invention displays a low molecular weight distribution, improved co-monomer incorporation, low content of the low molecular weight component, and excellent morphological properties such as spherical shape and high bulk density.

  • Patent number: 6956003
Abstract: A catalyst system for (co)-polymerizing ethylene or ethylene with ?-olefin is disclosed. The catalyst system utilizes a catalyst component that contains the product of a reaction of an early transition metal complex such as a titanium alkoxide with a cyclic diene-containing compound such as indene. The catalyst system also utilizes a solid magnesium halide support and an alkylaluminum co-catalyst. The catalyst system of present invention produces polyethylene with a narrow molecular weight distribution and a narrow compositional distribution.
