Abstract: Vanadium doping has been found to increase the sinterability of La.sub.x Ca.sub.y CrO.sub.3 (x+y=1) while retaining its high temperature electrical and chemical properties. Specimens of La.sub.x Ca.sub.y CrO.sub.3 with about 2 mol % V were sintered at 1,300.degree. to 1,450.degree. C. for 2 to 8 hours to achieve more than 92% theoretical density, as compared to less than 75% for those specimens not containing V. The electrical conductivity of La.sub.0,76 Ca.sub.0,26 CrO.sub.3 +2 mol % V in 10.sup.-16 and 1 atm of O.sub.2, was measured to be 12 and 30 S/cm, respectively. Preliminary experiments with tape cast laminates and spray coated specimens give indication that La.sub.x Ca.sub.y CrO.sub.3 +V can be sintered on YSZ with good adherence between the two materials.
Abstract: A method and apparatus for determining the rate of angular rotation of a rotating object comprising directing a beam of substantially coherent electromagnetic radiation towards the rotating object (80); detecting speckles generated by electromagnetic radiation (60) scattered from the object; and determining the transit time of the detected speckles; wherein the field of electromagnetic radiation (60) scattered from the object is Fourier-transformed by an optical Fourier-transforming system (20); and subjective speckles (71) of the Fourier-transformed electromagnetic radiation (70) are detected in at least two detection regions (12, 13) positioned in a detector plan (9) substantially parallel with and located in or near the Fourier-plane (10) of the Fourier-transforming system (20).
Abstract: A solid oxide fuel cell includes a cathode, a YSZ-electrolyte, and an anode, where the cathode is formed by a mixture of LSM and YSZ. According to the invention the content in the cathode of YSZ amounts to 20 to 75% by weight, whereby it is possible to reduce the polarisation resistance to 0,08.OMEGA.cm.sup.2 at 40 mV. Furthermore, a mechanically stable structure is obtained.

Abstract: A fly wheel arrangement includes a rotatable axle (1), a ring (4) essentially forming the rotating mass of the fly wheel and a connecting member (5) made from fiber-reinforced plastic connecting the ring (4) with the axle (1) or with a part rotating therewith. The connecting member (5) is connected to the ring (4) at its outer end portion and to the axle (1) or a part connected thereto at its inner end portion.
