Abstract: An information transmission device coupled to a GPS (Global Position System) receiver is proposed. The information transmission device is fixated to a vehicle by a base with a supporting rod, and the base is adapted for supporting a portable electrical device. The base has an opening for exposing an infrared transmitter disposed in the base. The position of the opening for exposing the infrared transmitter corresponds to the position of an infrared transceiver unit of the portable electrical device. GPS signals received by the information transmission device can be transmitted to the infrared transceiver unit of the portable electrical device by the infrared transmitter of the information transmission device, thus the portable electrical device obtains the GPS signals by means of wireless transmission.

Abstract: A dual-mode position-locating device for receiving signals from a communication satellite to locate a user, includes a Global Positioning System (GPS) processor; a first data storage region for storing a control program accessible to the GPS processor to allow the GPS processor to analyze and process the received signals; a second data storage region controlled by the control program and for storing a high-sensitivity operational program that precisely locates the user; a third data storage region controlled by the control program and for storing a normal-sensitivity operational program that roughly locates the user; and an input unit electrically connected to the GPS processor and controlled by the control program, allowing the user to input a switching signal to the input unit so as to switch the GPS processor to execute either the high-sensitivity operational program or the normal-sensitivity operational program to perform operations for the received signals.

Abstract: A communications integration system suitable for use in a portable device is disclosed having a receiving unit for receiving Global Positioning System (GPS) signals and Radio Data System (RDS) signals, a signal integration module used to evaluate the type of signals received by the receiving unit and to process the signals, and an output unit used to output data processed by the signal integration module. With the communications integration system of the invention, information carried by GPS and RDS signals is made available in a single, integrated, portable device.
