    Abstract: Resin compositions suitable for use in the bonding of particulate refractory material, such as sand, in the production of metal casting cores and molds is provided wherein the composition is composed of furfuryl alcohol and a copolymer of styrene and allyl alcohol. The copolymer is capable of forming a stable homogeneous solution with the furfuryl alcohol. The composition may further contain a silane to promote adhesion of the resin composition as well as an acid catalyst.
