Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention relate to a novel approach to automatically detect the occurrence of evoked potentials, quantify the attributes of the signal and visualize the effect across a high number of spinal cord epidural stimulation parameters. This new method is designed to automate the current process for performing this task that has been accomplished manually by data analysts through observation of the raw EMG signals, which is laborious and time-consuming as well as being prone to human errors. The proposed method provides fast and accurate framework for activation detection and visualization of the results within five main algorithms.

Abstract: This invention discloses a method for controlling nanoscopic wetting near or at a molecular scale for synthetic material applications. In particular this invention relates to a method for preparing a monolayer or thin film with a patterned nanoscopic wetting surface using a ‘sitting’ phase of polymerizable amphiphile, wherein hydrophobic alkyl chains of the amphiphile extend along the supporting surface and the amphiphile molecules align side-to-side, effectively forming a repeating cross-section of bilayer with alternating hydrophilic and hydrophobic stripes of a ˜6 nm pitch tunable based on the chain length of the amphiphile. Products prepared according to the methods disclosed herein are within the scope of this invention. In some embodiments, monolayers or thin films so prepared are transferable.

Abstract: Implementations described and claimed herein provide systems and methods for managing animal patient during a veterinary procedure. In one implementation, a base has an interior surface, an exterior surface, and an opening. An electrode is disposed in the opening. The electrode is configured to communicate with medical device(s) for monitoring vital(s) of the patient during the procedure. A thermal insulator extends from the base. The thermal insulator forms a housing. An internal cavity is defined within the housing. The foot of the patient is receivable into the internal cavity. The thermal insulator regulates the body temperature of the animal patient during the veterinary procedure by retaining heat within the internal cavity.

Abstract: Methods for diagnosing a cancer in a subject are provided in which a biological sample is provided from a subject including one or more exosomes. The exosomes are isolated from the biological sample and are used to identify a type and/or amount of one or more tumor suppressor miRNAs encapsulated by the exosomes. A measurable difference in the type and/or amount of the tumor suppressor miRNAs as compared to control levels allows for a diagnosis of cancer in the subject. Methods of selecting or modifying a treatment and methods for determining whether to initiate or continue prophylaxis or treatment for a cancer based on the exosomal miRNAs is further provided.

Abstract: Disclosed is a prostate cancer diagnostic biomarker composition including, as an active ingredient, at least one kynurenine pathway metabolite selected from kynurenine and anthranilate. Also disclosed are a prostate cancer diagnostic composition including an agent capable of measuring the level of the biomarker and a prostate cancer diagnostic kit including the prostate cancer diagnostic composition. The use of the prostate cancer diagnostic biomarker composition can significantly improve the accuracy of prostate cancer diagnosis as an alternative or supplement to the use of PSA levels for prostate cancer diagnosis according to the prior art, which has difficulty in ensuring accurate diagnosis. Therefore, the biomarker composition can be widely used in a variety of industrial applications, including medical applications.
