Patent number: 7043867Abstract: A fish-bite indicator having a rotary part which is engaged by a fishing line when the indicator is in use. The vibration sensor is coupled to the rotary part to detect vibration thereof. As a result, vibration of the rotary part caused by a fish-bite can be detected by the vibration sensor whilst at the same time the part of the indicator which is engaged by such a line, being a rotary part, accommodates any longitudinal movement of the line.Type: GrantFiled: November 27, 1995Date of Patent: May 16, 2006Assignee: Fox Design International LimitedInventor: Clifford Royston Fox

Patent number: 6308452Abstract: A fish-bite indicator (100) comprises an arm (102) pivotally mounted on a pivotal mount (104) at one of its ends and which has a fishing line engagement element (18 and 24) at the other. A helical spring (144) is provided at the pivotal mount (104) to vary the force with which the engagement element (18 and 24) acts on the line (82), the spring (144) acting on one of two parts (120 and 134), which can be selectively rotated relative to one another to vary the torsional force exerted by the helical spring (144). The two parts (120 and 134) are held at a selected one of a plurality of available relative angular positions by mutually engaging castellations (154 and 156).Type: GrantFiled: June 22, 2000Date of Patent: October 30, 2001Assignee: Fox Design International LimitedInventor: Clifford Royston Fox

Patent number: 6158163Abstract: A device for releaseably retaining a fishing line comprising a main body and two leg portions extending from the main body. The device further comprises resilient means acting upon at least one of the leg portions to urge the latter towards the other leg portion with a force which, for a given relative position of the two leg portions, is adjustable.Type: GrantFiled: August 11, 1998Date of Patent: December 12, 2000Assignee: Fox Design International LimitedInventor: Clifford Royston Fox

Patent number: 5666986Abstract: A tent frame device comprising a hub from which radiates a multiplicity of ribs when the device is in use. The hub is provided with a multiplicity of retaining portions which extend in a tangential direction and which are spaced apart around the hub. A multiplicity of abutment portions are positioned outwardly of the retaining portions respectively. Respective rib-end portions are provided with respective recesses which are open in an intended upward direction and which receive the retaining portions respectively when the device is in use. The undersides of the rib-end portions abut the abutment portions. The invention extends to a tent frame comprising such a hub device and a multiplicity of ribs which radiate from the hub when the device is in use. It also extends to a frame having ribs which can each be folded at one or more joints having engagement means which maintain the relative orientation of the different parts of the rib.Type: GrantFiled: May 23, 1995Date of Patent: September 16, 1997Assignee: Fox Design International LimitedInventor: Clifford Royston Fox

Patent number: 5450687Abstract: A bite indicator for indicating a bite by a fish on a line of a fishing rod includes an arm that is free to swing upward or downward and a line engagement device secured to the arm for engaging the line. A change in the tension on the line causes the line engagement device to rise or fall as the arm swings upward or downward. The line engagement device includes a body provided with a channel and a pivoting gate that pivots between closed and open positions. In the closed position the gate extends over the channel to form a closed loop with the body that surrounds the line when the bite indicator is in use. In the open position the line is free to move out of the channel. The body is oriented with respect to the arm so that the line tends to open the gate only after the arm swings to an upper position beyond a predetermined level.Type: GrantFiled: December 10, 1993Date of Patent: September 19, 1995Assignee: Fox Design International LimitedInventor: Clifford R. Patent number: 5321391Abstract: A fish-bite indicator has a rotary part which is engaged by a fishing line when the indicator is in use, such that longitudinal movement of the fishing line causes the rotary part to rotate. Sensor means are provided to produce a signal for every rotation or part rotation of the rotary part. A counter is connected to the sensor means and constructed to issue an indicator signal in dependence upon each signal or each given count of signals it receives from the sensor means, the counter being constructed so that the number of each given count is alterable. A manually adjustable member is connected to the counter to enable that count to be altered thereby to enable the sensitivity of the indicator to be varied. The invention also extends to a fish-bite indicator comprising a housing having wall means which define (a) a sealed interior of the housing and (b) an enclosure immediately adjacent to the sealed interior.Type: GrantFiled: May 12, 1993Date of Patent: June 14, 1994Assignee: Fox Design International LimitedInventor: Clifford R.
