Abstract: A method of making an electrical connector which includes an insulative housing having a tongue with an upper and lower surfaces, a plurality of contacts having respective contacting portions exposed to the upper and lower surfaces of the tongue and having two outermost upper or lower contacts, and a shielding member situated between the upper and lower surfaces of the tongue and overlapping the two outermost upper or lower contacts along a vertical direction perpendicular to the upper and lower surfaces of the tongue is characterized by the steps of: forming the plurality of contacts from a first carrier; forming the shielding member from a second carrier to have the two discrete shielding plates; stacking the first carrier and the second carrier; and molding the plurality of contacts and the two discrete shielding plates with an insulator in one shot.

Abstract: A cable connector includes a contact module enclosed within a case. The contact module includes an upper part and a lower part stacked with each other. The upper part includes an upper insulator and plural upper contacts and a metallic upper shield attached upon the upper insulator. The wires include inner conductors connected to differential-pair signal contacts of the plural upper contacts. The upper shield defines a plurality of front spring fingers respectively connected to the corresponding grounding contacts and a plurality of rear spring fingers respectively connected to the braiding layers of the corresponding wires.

Abstract: An electrical connector is essentially composed of a pair of half housings opposite to each other in a longitudinal direction to commonly form a receiving cavity for receiving a CPU. Each half housing is equipped with a plurality of contacts with corresponding contacting sections upwardly extending into the receiving cavity for mating with the CPU. A single pick-up cap includes a plate with a plurality of claws adapted to be engaged within locking recesses in exterior sides of the half housings, a plurality of positioning blocks adapted to extend into the receiving cavity so as to cooperate with the claws to sandwich the periphery wall of the housing therebetween in the longitudinal direction for securing the half housings to the pick-up cap. Therefore, both the pair of half housings may be grasped by the single pick-up cap for mounting and soldering to PCB at the same time.

Abstract: A connector assembly for mounting a chip module to a printed circuit board (PCB) includes: a seating mechanism including a socket connector, a metallic seat frame, and a metallic load plate; a back plate; and plural fasteners extending through the seating mechanism, the PCB, and the back plate to fasten the seating mechanism and the back plate on two opposite sides of the PCB, wherein the back plate has a curved inner region and a flat outer region and the fasteners extend through the flat outer region of the back plate.

Abstract: An electrical connector includes an insulating body and first through eighth terminals sequentially arranged in a lateral direction in the insulating body, wherein the first and second terminals, the third and sixth terminals, the fourth and fifth terminals, and the seventh and eighth terminals are respectively used to transmit a pair of differential signals, each terminal including: a mating portion for mating to a mating connector; a tail portion opposite to the mating portion; and a connecting portion connected therebetween, the connecting portions of the third terminal to the fifth terminal are all provided with a coupling portion; wherein the coupling portions of the third through fifth terminals are in three different planes, respectively, and the coupling portion of the fifth terminal and the coupling portion of the third terminal at least partially overlap in a longitudinal direction perpendicular to the lateral direction.
