    Abstract: An optical fiber connector assembly (10) comprises an insulating housing (100) formed from two complementary upper cover (101) and lower base (102) suitably locked together to form the hollow housing (100). Within the housing (100) is formed at least one ferrule-receiving trough (103) adapted to receive a ferrule (400) for securing an optical fiber cable to the housing (100). Formed in the housing (100) is a passageway (105) for receiving a hollow retention bolt (200) through which the optical fiber cable enters the housing (100). A multi-faceted mode-marking key element (300) is provided independently nested with an interference fit in an appropriate recess, i.e. cavities (104, 104'), within the housing (100) between the cover (101) and the base (102). The key element (300) is of a parallelepiped form having four different structural surfaces (A, B, M, S) which surround a horizontal axis which is perpendicular to the rest two side surfaces (301).

    Abstract: A chip carrier socket assembly (10) for electrical connecting leads (81) on a chip carrier (80) to a board on which the socket is seated, comprises a base (20) having a chip carrier receiving opening (22) in relation to peripheral walls (24) thereof. A plurality of lower contacts (70) are disposed in the base (20) for electrical connecting to the respective printed circuit board pads. The socket (10) further includes a cover (40) complementarily positioned on the base (20). The cover (40) has therethrough a central opening corresponding to the opening (22) of the base (20) and surrounded by circumferential walls (44). A corresponding plurality of upper contacts (60) are disposed in the cover (40) for mechanically pressing against and electrically connecting to the leads (81) of the chip carrier (80). The chip carrier (80) can be retained within the cover (40) by means of the upper contacts (60) thereof without regard to the base (20).

    Abstract: An electrical socket contact (1) includes an elongated sleeve (30) having an upper large hollow portion (32) for receiving a clip (10) therein and a lower small pin portion (34) for reception in a hole of a board on which a PGA insulative socket housing is mounted. The clip (10) comprises at the top a ring (12) from which a pair of opposite beams (16) extend downwardly. The beams (16) converge approximately in the midst for engagement with a male pin received within the socket contact (1). A bight portion (20) connectively intermediates between the distal ends of the beams (16) to serve to stabilize the beams (16) and allow the beams (16) to move as a unit. At the top, the ring (12) retains the clip within the sleeve (30) with an interference fit and at the bottom, the bight portion (20) associated with the distal ends of the beams (16) freely move in all directions to accommodate any off-center of the male pine due to angularity or position.

The optical fiber connector assembly includes an insulating housing having complementary upper cover and bottom base members and at least one ferrule with the housing disposed longitudinally and parallel to the longitudinal axis at the free end of the housing. A multi-faceted key mechanism within the housing provides a marking feature to prevent improper connection of mating connectors. At the rear end of the bottom base and its corresponding upper cover there is provided a hollow retention bolt which is preassemblable and adapted to retain the optical fiber cable in position and to hold the two half-shells together. A dust-reject cover is provided having cooperating grooved recesses in opposite end walls sized to fit over and be retained on the connector cable when the connector is connected to another optical device and the dust cover must be removed from the housing.

The first strip (41) is also bent through about 90 degrees with respect to the second strip (42) along a bend line (43) of the adjacent portion toward the second strip (42).
