  • Patent number: 4361777
Abstract: A piezoelectric element forms at least a part of a resilient vibrator which is firmly gripped at one end at a clamping point and is stressed by the tensile force of the thread at the other end, and which is prestressed substantially parallel to the stressing direction through a bearing surface acting at a point between its ends and rigidly connected to the clamping point. As a result, the piezoelectric element detects vibrations which are transmitted to the vibrator from its clamping point far less than vibrations which are transmitted to the vibrator through its free end by the tensile force of the thread. The transducer is therefore particularly suitable for installation in or on thread-processing textile machines. Its signal indicates not only the presence but also--with a moving thread--the travel of the thread, particularly when this thread is withdrawn overhead from a bobbin.

  • Patent number: 4332065
Abstract: Upon rupture of a thread or the like a thread monitor or stop motion moves about a pivot point in clockwise direction, and thus, by means of a release rod, causes an entrainment element to come into engagement with a to-and-fro driven entrainment member. Consequently, an actuation rod is upwardly moved and latched by a support lever in its upper position. Due to this movement a feed bobbin along with the therewith operatively correlated thread guides are lifted, so that the thread travel path is shifted out of the effective region of a singeing burner. Due to the raising of the feed bobbin there is diminished the spacing between such feed bobbin and a winding bobbin. Due to lifting of the actuation rod the winding bobbin, in response to the operation of a pawl and a tooth segment, is raised from a driving cam or grooved drum. The raised position of the feed bobbin facilitates the knotting of the thread.

  • Patent number: 4107908
Abstract: A method of manufacturing spun yarn comprises feeding at least one filament onto a rotating member in a manner to form flat loops of the filaments on the member, picking the loops off the member and feeding and twisting the loops to form a spun yarn. The device advantageously includes a spinning head which rotates about a longitudinal axis and which carries a disc member which rotates about its own central axis. A thread guiding device is arranged to rotate about the longitudinal axis of the spinning head and separate drives are provided for each of the spinning head, the disc and the thread guide in order to form variations in the flat loops which are formed as segmental partly overlapped loops on the disc member. The construction includes a pickup member for picking up the loops off the disc and conveying rollers for conveying the twisted yarn into a setting chamber and a force twisting device for subsequent winding on a bobbin.

  • Patent number: 3968547
Abstract: A yarn singeing machine includes a singeing burner and a cleaning device and yarn is directed from a yarn supply to the singeing burner and the cleaning device and then to yarn winding means. The construction includes deflecting roller means for deflecting the yarn into a lengthened run between the burner and the cleaning device and also between the cleaning device and the yarn winding means.

  • Patent number: 3935623
Abstract: A yarn singeing burner, comprises a housing which has a vertical yarn passage defined threthrough, and a front wall having an entrance opening to the yarn passage. An insert member is located within the passage, and has a wall portion spaced inwardly from the housing, so as to define a burner fuel and air chamber therebetween. The insert member is provided with a plurality of apertures for the passage of a singeing flame jet which is generated by the burning of fuel and air which is directed into the fuel and air chamber, defined between the insert and the housing. A yarn guiding channel extends through the yarn passage between the flame jets and the yarn, and it has an open side which is opened to the entrance for the passage of the yarn therethrough.
