Abstract: The invention relates to a method for predicting a movement vector (MVp1) of a partition (P1) of a current image (IN) from a plurality of n reference movement vectors associated respectively with n reference partitions that have been previously encoded and decoded. For a spatial prediction of one such vector, when the geometric shape of the current partition is different from that of k adjacent reference partitions (pr1, pr2, . . . prk), with k?n, the movement vector of the current image partition is determined from a function of at least one reference movement vector belonging to a set of k reference movement vectors associated respectively with k adjacent reference partitions.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for encoding a sequence of images by predicting at least one current image by forward motion compensation from at least one reference image. Prediction implements, for at least one current block of the current image: forward projection of a block of the reference image on the current image, delivering a projected block at least partially overlapping the current block; partitioning the current block delivering a sub-block at least partially overlapped by at least one projected block; and at least one iteration of the following steps for at least one overlapped sub-block: checking that the overlapped sub-block complies with a predetermined allotting criterion; with a positive check, allotting, to the overlapped sub-block, one of the projected motion vectors; and with a negative check, and so long as a predetermined minimum size is not reached for the overlapped sub-block: partitioning of the overlapped sub-block.

Abstract: A method to provide a user interface, the method may be controlled by one or more controllers and may include one or more acts of obtaining image information from a sequence of images of a user; analyzing the image information to recognize the user; recognizing first and second reference objects at least one of which corresponding with respective body parts of the user from the image information; determining whether a first reference object has been placed over or is within a threshold scaled distance of a second reference object; calculating an interaction time between the first reference object and the second reference object when it is determined that the first reference object has been placed over or is within the threshold scaled distance of the second reference object; comparing the interaction time with a threshold reference time; and performing an action in accordance with results of the comparison.

Abstract: A call is managed between a network and a telecommunications system (10) including a gateway (13), one or more interface devices (14-16) each of which can be connected to the gateway, and one or more sensors (17A, 17B) of information relating to the respective environments of the interface devices. The sensor senses information relating to the respective environments of the interface devices. Then, as a function of the sensed information, an interface device is selected. Finally, the selected interface device is connected with the gateway to enable a call between the selected interface device and the network.

Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided for sharing a media content displayed in a window of the touch input interface of a first electronic device with at least one second electronic device. The first electronic device includes a processor controlling the touch input interface. The method is carried out by the processor and includes the acts of enabling displacement of the window in response to capturing a first touch input indicative of an initiation of a transfer, capturing a continuous touch input across the interface from an initial position in the window, displacing the window with each additional touch input of the continuous touch input, sending an activation message that the media content is to be played on the second device when determining that the window is within a given distance of a virtual representation of the second electronic device on the interface.

Abstract: A negotiation method and server are provided for delivery of a service to a terminal. Also provided are a method for configuring a terminal and a terminal using the method. In particular, the methods and apparatus relate to interfaces for interaction with services available to users of a service. The negotiation method includes sending to the terminal of a set of proposals for interactions with a delivery component of the service capable of enabling the terminal to indicate to the delivery component that the terminal accepts at least one proposal from the set of interaction proposals.

Abstract: A system of authorizing access to a resource including a processor obtaining sensor information related to at least two users from one or more sensors, the sensor information including one or more of image information and proximity information of each of the at least two users. Further, an act of identifying current gestures is performed for each of the at least two users in accordance with the sensor information. The current gestures may be compared with pre-stored gesture information related to predetermined gestures and an order of the predetermined gestures. Further, access to the resource may be authorized when it is determined that the current gestures are in accordance with the predetermined gestures and the order of the predetermined gestures.

Abstract: A method and system are provided for populating an electronic device registered for a user with applications from an application platform that the electronic device is operating with. The method is carried out by an application recommendation node. The method includes the acts of collecting a user profile for the user and an identifier for the electronic device, selecting a list of applications from the application platform based on the user profile, associating the list of applications with the identifier, receiving notification of a first presentation of the identifier following the association, and pushing the list of applications to the electronic device corresponding to the identifier following the notification.

Abstract: A method is provided for downloading and running a non-native application designed for a source operating system (OS) on a target device having a target OS, the method includes: connecting the target device to a source device having the application in a paring operation; transferring a shareable provisional profile containing characteristics related to the application, including information on the source OS needed to run the application from the source device to the target device; and obtaining the source OS on the target device. Once the source OS is present on the target device, the method downloads the application from the source device to the target device, executes the source OS as a virtual machine on the target device, and runs the application within the source OS virtual machine.

Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided for encapsulating a plurality of data substreams encoded in a bit stream, wherein the encoded data substream is obtained by entropy encoding of a symbol subsequence representing an image or a series of images. The method includes grouping data substreams into substream pairs according to an iterative traversal order predetermined from the plurality of substreams, and on the basis of a pair of the substreams, obtaining a symmetrical pair by reversing a data order making up the second substream of the pair. The obtained pairs are then concatenated within a sequence. The binary stream is created by encapsulating the sequence and information related to a number of substreams and related to the sizes of pairs of symmetrical substreams.

Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided for controlling the shaping of encoding noise during the ADPCM encoding of a digital audio input signal. The noise-shaping is carried out through the use of feedback that comprises filtering noise. The method includes the following steps: obtaining a parameter for indicating a high spectral dynamic range of the signal, the parameter indicating a risk of instability of the feedback; detecting a risk of instability by comparing the indication parameter to at least one predetermined threshold; limiting the feedback in the event that a risk of instability is detected; and gradually reactivating the feedback over a predetermined number of frames subsequent to the current frame for which the feedback is limited. Also provided is an encoder with feedback, including a control module implementing the control method as described.

Abstract: A telecommunication method is provided, which includes storing at least one message in a message base and defining a set of communication devices. The method further includes sending each device in the set, a notification of at least one event relating to the message. The method offers a plurality of mutually consistent methods of access to a message base using only targeted transmission of signaling messages of content that is directly linked to messages having content or status that has been modified, thereby considerably limiting transmission of superfluous data needlessly consuming bandwidth.
