Abstract: The invention relates to a signal intended to be transmitted towards a plurality of receivers, of the type comprising at least two source signals and consisting of a plurality of independently modulated substantially orthogonal carrier frequencies distributed over a predetermined frequency band. According to the invention, said frequency band [(12)] is divided into at least two frequency sub-bands [(131-134)] each comprising a set of said substantially orthogonal carrier frequencies [(11)], and to each of said sub-bands is allocated one of said source signals, so that a receiver may retrieve from the transmitted signal, by filtration, at least one of said sub-bands and perform demodulation processing only on the carrier frequencies contained in the retrieved sub-bands. The invention also relates to a transmission process as well as to a receiver of such signal.

Abstract: An apparatus for querying a central service dials telephone numbers to establish contact with the central service, and accesses services housed in the central service. The geographical location of the apparatus is stored in a tie unit and sent to the apparatus upon request. The apparatus forwards this information to the central service that then provides information about facilities (e.g., restaurants, sports venues, theaters, etc.) at that location.

Abstract: The present invention lies in the field of antennas for land cellular radio communications networks, and it relates to a remote control method for adjusting the tilt of the radiation pattern relative to the horizontal of the antennas of a base station. The invention also relates to an antenna fitted with means for adjusting its tilt and to a system for remote control of the tilt. The technical field of the invention is active antennas (also known as “smart” antennas or as “adaptive” antennas) for networks for communicating with mobile telecommunications terminals. According to the invention, an antenna for a land cellular telecommunications network, the antenna comprises radiating elements and feeder means for feeding said radiating elements with radio frequency signals; said feeder means include electronic phase shifter means for obtaining phase shifts between said signals so as to enable the tilt of the radiation pattern in a vertical plane to be adjusted remotely.

Abstract: A shop management method and a platform for performing the method are provided to assist shopkeepers who have an inventory of products being offered for sale. A management space is assigned for each shopkeeper on the management platform which is remotely located from the shop and is accessible via a network, such as the Internet. Access to the shopkeeper's management space is controlled by authorized list. Certain pre-arranged management tools for this shop are made available to the shopkeeper in the corresponding assigned management space.
Abstract: A system and a process arranges equitable-loss data packets in a high-volume asynchronous transfer mode (ATM) system and establishes the output order of the packets. There are a plurality of inflowing data packet streams, a minimum quantity ri of each incoming flow being reserved. At all times, there is a ratio K(t) between two parts of each incoming data packet flow. One part is a quantity of packets &Dgr;xi(t) allocated above the minimum reserve quantity ri. The other part ei(t) is an instantaneous quantity &Dgr;xi(t) above the minimum reserve quantity ri.

Abstract: A method and device for encoding a digital audio-signal divided into a succession of blocks according to a LPC “forward” and “backward” analysis respectively under a choice criterion. For coding each current block, the choice criterion is established by defining the degree of stationarity of the digital audio-signal according to a stationarity parameter belonging to a maximum and a minimum stationarity range value. An analysis choice value is established from a decision function and this stationarity parameter and thus applied to the digital audio-signal to have this audio digital signal encoded by “backward” LPC filtering for stationary zones. The “forward” and “backward” filtering mode are thus performed in relation to the degree of stationarity of the audio digital signal, the amount of switching from one to the other filtering modes being thus limited.

Abstract: In order to depict a set of paths which are available for transporting a stream from a first node (1) to a second node (6) of the network, one or more perimeters are placed around each symbol designating a departure node of an elementary link of a path of the set, and a respective flag is placed at the intersection between each arc designating an elementary link of the set of paths and a perimeter surrounding the symbol designating the departure node of said elementary link. This depiction technique permits clear visualization of various routing conditions, in a manner which is independent of the positions of the nodes in the graphical representation of the network. It is particularly well suited to computer tools for assisting the design or simulation of networks.
