  • Patent number: 4644423
Abstract: A method and apparatus permits interfacing of several independent program sources so that a secondary program source is operated in a playback mode while a search mode is engaged for a primary program source. For example, an audio cassette device may be operated in a playback mode while a video cassette device is under the automatic search control of a conventional programmable auto search control unit. The interfacer apparatus of the present invention permits completion of any previously started audio cassette message before playback operation of the video cassette device begins. The method and related apparatus permits maximum retention of the attention span of display users by preventing any significant lapse or gaps in presentation, thereby making the present system particularly suitable for holding the continuous attention of potential customers and students.
