  • Publication number: 20200270789
Abstract: A magnetic encoder system (2) of a sewing machine drive comprises a disk (5), which is magnetized, an incremental track (8) and a reference track (9). The incremental track (8) extends completely around the disk (5) and has alternating pole elements (10), which serve as incremental markings. • Patent number: 5021965
Abstract: A method for digitally sensing and storing a sewing pattern for an industrial sewing machine. To make the sensing process fast and free of error, the invention provides that, starting from a null position of the driving step motors, the fabric carrier is moved under program control in such a fashion that a sewing pattern, disposed on the carrier for the material to be sewn, is scanned 2-dimensionally, the incremental x and y positional data of each step motor always being stored, when the sensor detects a bright-dark contrast on the sewing pattern. Further, for manual input or for making corrections, a device is provided, which is distinguished by a rotary device for setting the desired directional angle of the same pattern. This rotary device can be activated in a direction perpendicular to the rotation-adjustment plane, counter to a reset spring, to initiate a contact.

  • Patent number: 4988865
Abstract: In a position indicating device, especially for an industrial sewing machine, with a slotted wheel (3) and a first track (6) of slots (4) having, e.g., 512 slots (4), to permit a null-point synchronization over a relatively small range of rotational angles, and the establishment of definite angular positions, a second track (8) with slots (7) of various widths is provided. The first track (6) of slots (4) is associated with two light barrier arrangements comprising emitters (11a, 11b), receivers (12a, 12b), and masks (13a, 13b) while the second track (8) is associated with one light barrier arrangement. Evaluating systems are connected to the receivers (12) so that, on the basis of the number of slots (4) of the first track (6), the size of the slots (7) passing in each case and corresponding approximately to a multiple of the slot width may be determined through evaluating systems (14, 28) connected to the output, and in this manner to define the rotary angle position.

  • Patent number: 4906882
Abstract: A rotor for an electric motor energized by permanent magnet means comprises positioning devices for permanent magnets. These positioning devices consist of positioning rings disposed in the region of each end face of a rotor body and at least one inner positioning ring disposed on the rotor body between the two. The positioning rings comprise positioning webs which extend only over a small part of the length of the outer peripheral surface of the rotor body and which partially define compartments for in each case a permanent magnet. On the one hand, this ensures accurate and simple mounting of the permanent magnet while at the same time it reduces the moment of inertia of the rotor.

  • Patent number: 4709794
Abstract: An electromotive variable-speed and control drive particularly for use in industrial sewing machines and comprising a coupling coil casing radially surrounding a coupling-brake disk and a brake coil casing radially relocated towards the center. Both are positioned in the brake end shield. In order to avoid a sticking of the coupling-brake disk with high alternations and a delay of the break-down and build-up of the magnetic fields, a brake coil casing has been relocated radially so near to the center that it is situated within the brake pad in front of the armature ring. On the other hand, there is an undercut and a recess at the coupling coil casing and a recess at the disk flywheel which assures that no axial forces can occur at the radial gaps.

  • Patent number: 4696246
Abstract: A device for detecting an overlapping edge of material on a sewing machine has, in combination, a signal-level discriminator and an optical waveguide. The optical waveguide has a light-receiving end on the sewing machine for receiving light through the overlapping edge of the material. The optical waveguide may be an optic fiber which, because of its small, flexible size can be accommodated easily even in the crowded sewing head or bed of an industrial sewing machine. The other end of the optical waveguide is remote from the light-receiving end for providing the received light to the signal-level discriminator which, therefore, is also remote from the crowded sewing head or bed of the sewing machine which, in addition, could interfere with its operation.

  • Patent number: 4687461
Abstract: A multiple rotary drive system for a textile-working machine has first and second clutch-brake units. Each clutch-brake unit has a rotatable flywheel, a non-rotatable brake surface, and a rotatable shaft to be driven, whereby the rotatable shaft can be connected to the textile-working machine as a rotary drive of the system therefor. A clutch disc and a brake disc of each clutch-brake unit are connected to the shaft thereof for rotation therewith and are arranged for controllably engaging with, respectively, the flywheel for rotatably driving the shaft therefrom and the brake surface for braking rotation of the shaft therefrom. The flywheel of the first clutch-brake unit is rotationally driven, whereby the drive system can be driven by a continuously-rotating shaft of a continuously-operating electric motor. A belt extends about each flywheel for coordinate rotation of the flywheels when the one is rotatably driven by the electric motor.

  • Patent number: 4550814
Abstract: In a clutch-and-brake unit for use with a continuously rotating, motor-driven shaft, for example in an industrial sewing machine, a single disk has a clutch surface on one side and a brake surface on the other side. The disk is magnetically urged into operative engagement with clutch and brake pressure plates facing the respective clutch and brake surfaces of the disk, the clutch pressure plate being rotated by the motor-driven shaft to rotate the disk and a shaft connected thereto when operatively engaged, and the brake pressure plate being non-rotatable to brake the shaft. The brake pressure plate is also constantly urged into light contact with the brake surface sufficient to brake the disk and shaft only when the disk is not operatively engaged with the clutch pressure plate. This prevents the disk and connected shaft from rotating when neither the clutch nor the brake are operatively engaged and eliminates engagement noise when the brake pressure plate is operatively engaged.
